Xbox series X controller pulls back when pushed forward

My controller registers both back and forward inputs when I push the left stick forward. However, when neutral, it registers neutral, and when pulled back, it registers back.

I did open it to clean it, and did a quick trial run. It register's properly when the face plate has been removed. The inputs are entirely same regardless of when it's connected to xbox or pc.

My wife's controller, bought at the same time, same make and model, but white, does not have any of these issues.

I bought it refurbished, so I sincerely doubt it. I'll end up buying a new one eventually. Thanks though.

Sorry to hear you have a controller issue. It sounds like this is a hardware issue rather than software/firmware issue. Is it still under warranty as you can claim on that?

Ive had the baseline controllers for years and keep holding back from pulling the trigger (get it?) for an elite controller. When the series 2 came out, I was ready to go get one, but the fervor died off with reports of disconnecting.

Right now I’m still waiting to get an elite. I plan on it sometime this year, maybe with the Series X

The Xbox Series X controllers will work on Xbox One consoles, and the Xbox One controllers (including the Elite/Elite V2) will work on Xbox Series X too.
