Xbox Series X Controller - Messed up after firmware installation

Hi!, I recently buy a Xbox Series X controller to play games on my PC, I connected, and used it for a couple of weeks, all this without updating the firmware, it worked fine, it just disconnected from time to time, then I recently updated the firmware with the Xbox Accessories app, and now almost all of my games, detect the Xbox controller, but have all the buttons messed up, for example, the right stick does not even work, and the start button is now mapped as the right trigger (RT) for some reason, all the front buttons (A,B,Y,X) works fine and the left stick too. Now it only works properly if i conected with the USB-C cable.

I don't known why this happens, is there anyway to solve it?

First, welcome to the community. Could you say if you've tried to remap the controller's buttons by the accessory app, in this case, the same application you used to update your controller?

If you haven't tried it yet, please use the instructions provided in the article below.

The above article shows the elite controller, however, it will work normally with the Xbox series x controller.

You will see a profile created for your control, called profile 1 click edit it in the pencil at the top of the window.
Click reset to default if remapping the buttons does not resolve the issue.

In this case, it wouldn't be a bad idea to update your controller's firmware. You can do this on your Series X or your Windows 10 PC. To do it on the Series X, connect it using the USB cable and then go to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller. Then, select the Firmware version square, and then press Next to start the update process.

To do it on Windows 10, just download the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store. If you already have it installed, just run it. After opening the app, the procedure to update is the same one as on the Series X, press the "..." button and follow those steps.

Check if your controller works correctly after doing this.

Did all of that and still received the 'Something went wrong. Your controller is already up to date.' on the PC. There doesn't look to be any option to revert firmware on the Xbox series x controller. Did Microsoft remove the option to downgrade firmware recently?

Hey, went through the process on the series x and when I made it to check firmware I received a 'something went wrong. Your controller is already up to date' message instead of allowing me to revert firmware.

I have an xbox series x. When turning the xbox on with a controller the system will turn on then immediately turn off and start again.

Does this happen if you use the console on/off button?

Is the console OS and the controller firmware up to date?
