  1. Xbox Series X controller has wrong mapping through bluetooth.

I just recently bought an Xbox Series X (Core) controller and updated the firmware, but I'm running into an issue where in several games, while the controller is connected through bluetooth, the button mapping is completely wrong. The X button becomes the A button, the Y button becomes the B button, right stick doesnt work and is instead mapped to the triggers, the menu buttons are the triggers, etc etc.

I cant really tell whats happening as far as while its connected with bluetooth, but while plugged in with the USB-C cable it looks like windows is seeing it as an Xbox One controller. FFXIV's controller menu shows as much, and over bluetooth it changes to "bluetooth LE xinput device." It almost makes me think that the issue is the affected games have better compatibility with Xbox One controller drivers, and that it cant make sense of whatever the bluetooth drivers are.

At any rate any advice would be appreciated as google searches only turn up a lot of people having the same problem as far back as 2020 and zero solutions.

Why can't I pair up Bluetooth wireless earbuds with my console?

it uses wifi that the xbox has a receiver and sender for, similar to the microsoft pc wireless adapter but obviously built into the console.

no bluetooth at all. there is not a single bluetooth chip in the console, the modern xbox controller connect via wifi to the console or bluetooth to phones and pc if not using the adapter for pc. only the controller has bluetooth and this is basic at best.

Does the Xbox Series X or Series S support Bluetooth? | Windows Central

No Bluetooth for Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X doesn't have Bluetooth, similarly to the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X. The reason is simple; the Bluetooth signal isn't strong enough to meet Microsoft's specifications for latency. Microsoft uses its proprietary signal, dubbed Xbox Wireless, for connecting controllers and other accessories, like the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and the SteelSeries 9X wireless headsets.

Microsoft's signal is far stronger than Bluetooth. Since many people typically game while sitting far away from their consoles in the living room or so on, Bluetooth's susceptibility to interference increases exponentially at longer ranges. If you were hoping you could use a USB Bluetooth adapter, it wouldn't work either, as the Xbox Series X and other Xbox One consoles don't have the drivers necessary to power them.

XBOX SERIES X Bluetooth mapping wrong

Just for future reference who ever else finds this problem. I messed around with some steam configurations, but these probably didnt do anything ad WRC10 I tried is not from steam. Steam still identifies these controllers as xbox one and not series X controllers.

As Geri stated one step was update and I updated everything on my windows 11. It might have been optional bluetooth update or windows upgrade. Still this should not be this complicated that I have to find out some optional updates and the controllers wont even popup anything telling that the drivers are wrong or outdated.

I havent tested out any other games yet, but for wrc 10 they work.
