Xbox Series X controller disconnects randomly during gameplay

Also please try clearing your cache:

Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds until it turns off.

Remove everything that is connected to the console

Wait for 3 minutes then connect the Power cord and HDMI cable.

Did you check your controller batteries too?

If you will get disconnected regardless of the controller, there are a lot of possible reasons why this happens and here are the things that you could take into consideration.

1. Change the channel of your Wi-Fi - either avoid the interfering channel all together OR set your AP on the offending channel. There are collision avoidance mechanisms on Wi-Fi that could affect your Bluetooth connectivity.

2. Change bandwidth - normally wide channels are default, and you might go to smaller channels to minimize interference. e.g. Default channel width on 5 GHz AP might be 80 MHz - if you truly have interference, you might get better performance on a 40 MHz or 20 MHz channel.

3. Reduce interference from other devices. Common sources include microwaves, cordless phones, and other Bluetooth devices. Try to keep these devices away from your router or to your Xbox.

Please update your console. Make sure your Xbox Series X console is running the latest system update. Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates and check for updates.

And then update your controller firmware. Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories and check for any firmware updates.

Next is to do a hard restart. Please hold the power button for about 10 seconds until it turns off completely, then turn it back on.

Then reset and re-sync. Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller for about 6 seconds to turn it off, then turn it back on. Press the Pair button on both the console and the controller to re-sync them wirelessly.

Kindly check range. Please make sure you're within the optimal range of the console (usually within 20-30 feet). And there should be no obstructions between you and the console2.

After that use a wired connection. Use a USB-C cable to connect your controller to the console. This can help stabilize the connection and prevent disconnections.
