Xbox series x controller disconnecting (latest firmware)

Hi,

I have had the Xbox series X since it launched back in November and have never had an issue with the controller disconnecting from wireless arbitrarily until very recently.

Microsoft have acknowledged these issues since launch and provided a firmware update to address all the issues around the random disconnections.

However, since I updated the controller to the latest firmware version, my controller has been dropping out constantly, and I’ve been given the problem that was meant to be fixed for others quite some time ago.

I can’t find any other reports of this, no one seems to have shared this problem since January, and certainly not since the latest firmware arrived.

Will there be a future firmware update to address this? Until then it looks like I will have to compromise by playing plugged in with the USB-C.

im on firmware 5.11.3118.0 for xboxc series S controller - latest, been on for weeks, before the problems with constantly disconnecting & reconnecting to the console after the latest console update about 2 weeks ago.

tried the controller firmware rollback via xbox assist, when you check the firmware it just says something went wrong - its on the latest firmware.......

I think we that have put our hard earned dollars should make a noise, let Micro$oft know we are angry 😡

I started having the same problems 2 days ago on my Xbox Series X. I haven't had any issues since I bought it 6 month ago. The console software is up to date. The controller was updated when it was connected for the first time. I updated the controller software yesterday but it didn't help me. I am lucky that at least I somehow updated the controller firmware because it is a challenge with this disconnection issue.

I reseted and re-synced my Series X controller, used wired connection with some USB-C that I found at home, restarted the console but nothing helped me.

Should it be some special USB-C cable to connect my controller? As I understood it only powers the controller now.

Also reported the issue using the Report a Problem app.

Can't blame you. I have a series x and ps5. I never have any issues with the ps5. Ever. The controller never disconnects, audio through headphones never breaks up like it does on my xbox, and games rarely crash to the dashboard. It's more stable. Period.

Xbox uses some kind of proprietary Bluetooth connectivity that clearly is substandard. Funny thing is this was a launch issue that i never experienced. When they updated the controllers last fall to fix the issue, guess what? In typical Microsoft fashion, they introduced the issue to people who had no issue previously!

I wish there were a phone number to call. Dealing with their useless help bots is laughable.

Maybe we need to start direct messaging the rep who chimed on on this thread a month ago and has since disappeared.
