    Xbox Series X Controller Button mapping is wrong on PC on BT


    I bought the Xbox Series X new controller a couple of weeks ago. The controller works fine in most games but I'm starting to find it's a bit clunky on some and it's not the game's fault.

    The first problem I got was from Devil May Cry V where the button mappings are all wrong when using Bluetooth but are perfectly fine when using Wired mode. A slight move of the mouse fixes this issue on BT mode on most places so I thought maybe the game
    was just clunky.

    But then, I tried playing Yakuza 0 on Gamepass, and I'm having the same issue, Wired controller works perfectly fine but BT connected has the Start and Options buttons swapped with the triggers and the d-pad not working at all, Plus it doesn't get fixed
    when I move the mouse or alt-tab like DMCV.

    Hollow Knight on Gamepass doesn't even recognize the controller. These are the only games I'm having issues with so far, which is kind of annoying since I bought this controller specifically for the wireless functionality, since I like playing these types
    of games on the TV on my couch and It's a gamble whether it will work properly or not. I have the controller firmware updated to the lastest version(5.52641.0) and windows latest update as well. Is this something you guys are looking into fixing?

    Bookmarking this thread so I can be notified about an update, which I will be eagerly awaiting. Hopefully it addresses the strange issue Xbox Series pads can have in BT mode on PC when using non-Steam platforms such as EGS or the Xbox App, where the button mappings will be wrong for no reason.

    There isn't a specific adaptor for the Series X/S controllers for PC. The current adaptor works just fine with these newer controllers, however it is now in very short supply. There are third party ones available that do the same thing.

    The Xbox 360 wireless controllers use a different WIFI protocol, they need their own Xbox 360 wireless Gaming Receiver.

    Xbox One and Series X/S controllers can be connected to PC via Bluetooth, but headsets will only work with the Xbox One adaptor (or a third party version), they won't work when the controller is connected via BT

    That's a Series X/S controller right? I think I have the same issue. Pretty sure its related to the same problem many people had just getting these controllers to work on Windows 10 via BT.

    For moment we're just going to have to leave it and hope they fix it with a Windows update. I don't use my Series X controller much on PC as I've got two other Xbox One controllers.

    Hi,

    You can use a standard Bluetooth adaptor. The Microsoft wireless adaptor for Xbox One/Series X|S controllers doesn't use Bluetooth.

    If you want standard connectivity then you can use a BT USB dongle (or built in BT if your device has this). The Microsoft adaptor offers more features such as the use of more than one controller, and the usage of your controller's headphone socket while wireless.
