Xbox series X boot up mechanical clunk noise. Is that normal?

ok i have somethign i hear now.. in the new 320 HDD inside the new slim every now and then i hear a CLUNKING sound ... it is NOT steady sounding like where it is constant.. but more like intermittent... sounds like the HDD platter noise..
or the heads on the hdd clucking... everything is working fine aside from that.. and i hear it occasionally NOT constant... Does anyone know if that is NORMAL?!?! i took the HDD out and tried to boot it.. of course it couldnt get booting up wihtout
drivers for the kinect.. but i did NOT hear the clunking sound.. so that leads me to belive it is the HDD!!

You're lucky you still have the blu-ray drive clunking noise on startup! lol

After...I think the February Updates, my Xbox One (which was perfect, mind you!) neglects to initialize the blu ray drive if I use the "instant-on" feature (now, I have to wake it up manually, by pressing the eject button to hear the clunking noise). Then
I opted out of the preview beta...and it still hasnt come back to normal.

Man. Microsoft is slacking. smh.

Yes mine only makes the one click when I turn the console on too and it doesn't actually make the noise permanently.

I think I'll just keep an eye on it and see how it goes, thank you for the help!

Yes that's the sound, I've tried putting a disc into the console and that seems to solve the issue but it does make the xbox considerably louder. How long have you had this problem for may I ask?

For me, it only makes the sound once just after I turn it on, but it never does it again. If you are saying that it's permanently making it, then that is weird and does need looking at. Apart from the first indicial pop, it's runs silently.

If you do send it back, they should be able to easily fix that issue, as it only sounds like the fan (easy swap out). They would only send a refurb unit if there were something wrong with the either circuit board.

If you don't want to send it back and it it's not that load, I wouldn't worry. I had a 2017 Xbox One X with a noisy fan and it's still going. Hasn't got any louder.

Are you referring to the click (or pop) noise that happens a few seconds after you turn it on?

If so, that perfectly normal and is actually the fan. If you glance in the top, you will see that fan slightly spins at the same time and then stops for a moment and then starts again.

My one does it to and has been from the start.
