Xbox Series X Atmos issues with Yamaha TSR-700

I'm on the most recent Omega update which I believe should have solved Atmos issues, but I'm still having them. I've tried plugging the xbox into the TV and the receiver with mixed results (using TV as the hub seems best). And have spent countless hours screwing will all settings on all 3 devices and can't get stable Atmos.

    Equipment:

    Sony Bravia x900h

    Yamaha TSR-700

    Xbox Series X

Details (Hope all this detail helps):

Xbox X in TV HDMI4, and a Yamaha TSR-700 in HDMI3 and whenever eArc is set to 'Auto' I can get Atmos to work from the Xbox intermittently, but there is almost always a 20second waiting period for the receiver to change from DTHD sound on the display (which gives me no sound) to Atmos/PCM. The Atmos is crisp and clear and it's beautiful thing until I switch apps on the xbox or switch inputs on the TV as that inevitably causes the Atmos sound to stop and the receiver shows DTHD, with no sound coming out. I then can't hear anything without switching the xbox to 5.1 uncompressed or some other audio setting. Atmos won't come back on without some combination of xbox and/or tv restarts and it's hit or miss if it will even come back.

If I turn eArc off on the TV while having Atmos Bitstream turned on the xbox, my sound codec downgrades to Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) and all issues go away, no more drops outs. DD+ sounds great albeit I'm not getting the satisfaction of seeing my setup pass the best possible sound.

So I had the idea about plugging he Xbox directly into the Yamaha receiver thinking if I removed the TV from playing middle man, the Xbox would be able to pass Atmos sound directly to the receiver. Well, that didn't work and was worse. The exact same issues persisted making me think the receiver and Xbox are having the eArc issues and maybe not the TV. To compound the issue, in this configuration (xbox to receiver HDMI), I have no way to force DD+ like I could when the Xbox was plugged into the TV (turning TV eArc off) and so I'm stuck using 5.1 uncompressed or basic Dolby Digital. So the eArc performance of the Xbox directly connected to Receiver is even worse than what I get when the TV is the middleman.

So I'm back to having the Xbox plugged into the TV HDMI4 and passing bitstream from Xbox without eArc. I get DD+ according to the receiver display and sound which is great and I think DD+ does technically pass a lossy Atmos as the Dolby App on the xbox says I'm getting Atmos sound when in this mode and either my mind is being tricked or the helicopter in the Xbox Dolby App absolutely sounds like it's flying overhead and to the right (I have no atmos speakers, so that's all virtual trickeration).

    Xbox Series X audio stutter

Similar issue for me. Have xbox series x connected to lg cx and cx connected via e-arc to tsr-700 receiver and 5.1.2 system. Even booting up the console the audio cuts in and out/ stutters! Tried watching some uhd blu rays and same issue. It comes and
goes, not constant, but very frustrating

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I have the same problem on Xbox X and XBox One. I’m using the Denon AVR-X 2700H 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the XBox X, and the Yamaha RXV-6A 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the Xbox One. Both receivers were working normally outputting Atmos on Netflix until November 2022. Disney+ and Amazon Prime play Atmos content on both devices without issue, hence indicating that the problem is not with the 4K TV and 4K projector, nor receivers.

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I'm having the same issue. The program page says Atmos but my receiver is only getting a Dolby Surround signal (not DD+ which would indicate Atmos).

Not sure if its connected, but the Apple TV+ app on the Series X has also stopped outputting Atmos the last few months. So maybe its a more general Series X Atmos bug. Still works fine on Prime and Disney +.

Another XSX Dolby Atmos sound delay post. . .

I’ve also been waiting on a fix for this for quite a while. I’ve been waiting to play Halo Infinite campaign with atmos AND 4k VRR etc. I have to go through my tvs earc to my Yamaha receiver due to Yamaha also screwing up and not having VRR etc available yet. They JUST patched in 4k120…

I don’t get why Halo Infinite was mixed in Atmos if this is such a widespread issue. Not a good look.

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I have had the same issue with Netflix and Apple TV (a few months), no Dolby Atmos, although there is a label Dolby Atmos at the title and chosen track with Dolby Atmos in the application. My AVR shows a PCM input signal for this application.

My setup is: Xbox Series X - Denon AVR X3700H - TV Samsung 75Q80T
