Xbox series X and hdmi switcher

My TV has 1 hdmi 2.1 port , i got myself XSX and ps5 and the mentioned hdmi 2.1 switcher https://www.amazon.pl/gp/product/B09SZ8N1Q9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . According to the product description 4k in 120hz should be working, but when starting like Gears 5 in 4k 120hz with HDR, the screen goes black and says no signal, without HDR it works fine in 120hz and with hdr in 60hz. PS5 works fine in 120hz but not much games to try it. I am using high quality HDMI 2.1 cables and without switcher 4k 120hz HDR works with XSX.

On the other hand, how fast the ports on both consoles will show issues when switching the HDMI cable?

    :)

Hello, Mtkut. Thanks for reaching out. I'm Lucas, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be glad to help you out.

If 4k 120hz works on the Series X without the switcher, then the switcher is the issue. I did not understand exact your last question, but if the HDMI cable or the switcher is the issue, you would see an issue instantly.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

This is because you are forgetting.when you use a splitter /switchwr you are sharing the same bandnwidth

If you want max quality you have to directly input.to the one port

As 120 Hz and 4k and her does take a lot of bandnwidth

And not many games on either consoles use that

4k 60hz her is recommended for MOST games

    Ts also less frames lostI

If you want max quality you are just going to have to get a better tv

My personal setup mind you its with HDMI 2.0

    With 4k 30hz

    Xbox series x HDMI 1

    Ps5 HDMI 2

Switch and Android and ps3 or.Super console.x or Google TV on the splitter

Still working on getting 4k 120hz

But it's not within my budget right now with steam deck coming

Sharing the bandwidth? Sharing with what exactly? The switcher switches the output signal to the alternative HDMI on the switch box, it wouldn't be sharing it with anything else.

I agree with Lucas and suspect that the manufacturer hasn't been quite truthful about the switch box's capabilities. Either that, or it's faulty. A 48Gb/s switchbox should have the full capabilities to support 120Hz @ 4K with HDR.

In the Xbox video settings, has the 'Allow YCC 4.2.2' have a tick in the box? YCC/YUV are the colour primaries and 4:2:2 is the compression used. YCC 4.4.4 is no compression and uses more bandwidth. If 4.2.2 works then problem solved. The compression should not be noticeable in games.

Note that the cable going from the TV HDMI to the Switch must also be fully HDMI 2.1 compliant. If that doesn't fix it, replace the switcher.

    HDMI Swapping Related

    Hi,

It's not a great idea to keep swapping HDMI cables over, especially with the console connected to the power. If your monitor only has one HDMI in then it would be best to buy an HDMI Switch box.

For the Series S you're best getting an HDMI 2.1 supported switcher. You can then connect both the laptop and the console to the monitor and change the input by the simple press of a button.

Xbox Series S> hdmi switch > moniter

    Hi,

That switch box is pretty old and low spec. The switcher doesn't have enough bandwidth to support your Series S console, even though it says it supports 1080P @60Hz.

My advice would be to buy a new, more advanced switch box. Here's a few to choose from.
