Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite: graphics 'garbage blocks' makes unplayable

I'm experiencing some rather severe graphics 'artifacting' / video garbage with Halo Infinite on my Xbox Series X. This is the first game I've played that has any such problems. It doesn't seem to occur in cutscenes, but is visible in the main menu and in game play.

I've tried changing to a different HDMI cable, switched to a different display (55" Visio => 30" Samsung), changed video modes all the way down to 720 p... and I'm still seeing the glitches. As I say above- the only game I've seen this with is Halo Infinite.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is my Xbox Series X toast? If so, it is weird (?) that I've not encountered any issues with other games.

and if my Xbox Series X is toast, is there a way to get a replacement 'drop shipped' (with my credit card as collateral) before sending my current box back? I'd like to be able to keep playing my other games while I wait for a replacement...

Hey, there Jesse I’m having some issues as well! What I’ve noticed is the graphics on halo infinite actually also in halo master chief collection as well! Like the graphics tend to move or wobble I don’t know if this needs a patch but I don’t have similar issues with other games only halo games but on halo infinite multiplayer it doesn’t tend to wobble , just in campaign never had any graphics issues in the past. I don’t know if it’s only the series x or could be only the halo games ?

If anyone has Game Pass, try installing Forza Horizon 5...that pushes the graphics quite hard so any console issue is likely to appear in that game too

That's a good suggestion, Nursemorph. I figured Halo Infinite and Gears 5 both producing artifacts was 'sufficient' proof, so my warranty order is in progress. UPS has my 'outbound' Xbox Series X now: fingers crossed that I get a machine back that works without too much waiting!

Side note: Microsoft warranty service no longer permits an owner to 'prepay' and get a replacement sent immediately before sending back a defective unit. I was pretty disappointed by this, but I guess some people took advantage somehow. That said- I really think Microsoft should look at the history of the person submitting the warranty claim and offer long term accounts some better alternatives than being without your machine for weeks.

halo infinite pushes the series hardware a lot more that gears does, you can run gears on a toaster.

As you say, none of the other games I've played recently e.g.: Far Cry 6; Guardians of the Galaxy; Fallout 76 have demonstrated any visual errors. The most 'logical' cause based on what I've observed is that Halo Infinite is 'defective': The problem I have with that is that it is odd that there doesn't seem to be anyone else reporting the symptoms I've encountered.

The other possibility that occurs to me is that Halo Infinite is using 'advanced' features e.g.: ray tracing or certain types of lighting that the other games aren't using. In this possible scenario, when that feature is used it 'triggers' a hardware defect on my Xbox.

If I could find two or three other games that exercise similar/the same graphical features as Halo Infinite and if they work without any errors, then that would make the 'Halo Infinite has a defect' cause most likely. Are there any games that push the limits of the Xbox Series X that I should try?
