Xbox Series X all access missing digital direct content

As per the title, I've no way of redeeming the 24 months Gamepass Ultimate membership that I've paid for as part of this deal. Tried signing out and in several times, resetting the console etc. with no luck. Is it possible that I was handed the wrong console
at my store? I read that digital direct content is tied to consoles, and it seemed to me that the employee picked a random console for me. If true, this mistake is bound to happen to many people...
