XBox Series X 120hz refresh rate issues

Good day, I have been investigating issues with handshake going from in-game to xbox Home Screen where at 120hz refresh rate the screen signal would be lost sometimes.

I escalated within LG and they determined it is due to a faulty send from the xbox series x. See their response here:

In summary LG engineers tested several OLEDxxC1 and C2 models (including OLED65C2PUA). They were able to recreate the issue. They have advised that the root cause is "a signal without HDMI EYE Margin" sent from the X-Box Series X console. The TV cannot recognize the signal and so it appears as No Signal. LG has requested improvement to Microsoft. That is also the suggestion to LG customer's experiencing the issue, that they report it through to Microsoft.

Anyone got a ticket open with Microsoft to forward this info to?

    Tom

    I have a lg 4k tv with hdmi 2.0
That will work fine with Xbox Series X,

However you wont get the 120hz refresh rates at 4K, as that requires to have HDMI 2.1, other than that your TV is fine to use, if your not to bothered about 120hz refresh rates at 4K as an issue for you, there's no need for a new TV.

2k with 120hz XBOX ONE X not working with HP X27i

Yes I'm there and the Game is for 2k. So that is not the problem.

My Xbox One X will not accepted the Setting "1440p with 120hz" with my HP X27i Monitor. Do you now that issue ?
With a lot of monitors, the lower the resolution, the higher the refresh rate you can have.

Near as I can tell, that monitor has a native refresh rate at 1440p of 60Hz (that is what it defaults to)...it then uses Variable refresh rate to bump it up higher. As noted above, the EDID fails as the Xbox needs a 120Hz setting to run at 120Hz. The monitor will definitely do 120Hz via HDMI but only on a PC/Laptop it seems.

I can't confirm it but I suspect that the monitor's native RR for 1080p is 120Hz.

This has been an issue for quite a few HP models, both whilst using the One X and also whilst using the newer Series X/S's

    Xbox Series X 1440p framerate

    Hi,

High refresh rates on Xbox Series X/S and even on Xbox One S/X provide two functions.

On Series X/S where a game supports a 120 fps mode, a high 120Hz connection facilitates that frame rate. If your display can't do 120Hz, you can't play a 120 FPS supported game. But, there is a possibility that a game may not be able to hit its intended
frame rate all the time and may drop frames. This is where VRR (variable refresh rate) via FreeSync and 120Hz come in by smoothing out the dropped frames and eliminating screen tearing.

But you don't need to change refresh rate to play a game that is locked to 60 fps. You can still keep your refresh and it won't affect your gaming experience. As I stated earlier, you can only get a 120 FPS on games that support that frame rate. The high
refresh will just make the experience smoother. It's up to developers on how their games perform on the console just like the options available in Dirt 5.

While the Series X can do 4K 120Hz with newer HDMI 2.1 displays you won't see many AAA titles doing this as it's way too demanding for the system.

    xbox series s isn’t displaying 120hz at 1440p or 1080p

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Expert, and I'll do my best to help you.

There are a few reasons why your Xbox Series S might not be displaying a 120Hz refresh rate, even though it's enabled in the settings. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the HDMI cable: Make sure the HDMI cable you are using to connect your Xbox Series S to the monitor is compatible with the 1440p resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Update the firmware of your monitor: Check to see if there is a firmware update available for your monitor. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

Check the video output settings on your Xbox Series S: Go to "Settings" > "Display and sound" > "Video output" and make sure the output resolution is set to 1440p and the refresh rate is set to 120Hz.

Make sure the game supports 120Hz: Some games may not support a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. Check the game's specifications to see if it supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Restart your Xbox Series S: Sometimes simply restarting the console can resolve display issues.

If none of these steps help, you may need to contact the manufacturer of your monitor for further assistance.

xbox series x with samsung- tv can’t support 4k uhd at 120hz

Your TV model doesn't support or have any HDMI 2.1 ports, which is what you need if looking to get 4K at 120hz.

also the TV doesn't have 240hz refresh rate, it's a 240hz motion rate, which is a 120hz refresh rate display but again you can't get the Series X to 4K 120hz unless your TV has HDMI 2.1 ports, without HDMI 2.1 on the TV you'll be limited to 4K 60hz.
