  1. Xbox Series X 120hz Display Bug

Let me first start by saying that my Xbox updated on December 8th and hasn't had issues since, Today was no exception. I tried to open discord but it has a bug when you have your Xbox set to instant on were it loads forever. I did a restart of the Xbox to fix this and all of a sudden I have this invisible bar on the left side of my screen that warped the image if anything on that side comes close to it. If I set my refresh rate to 60hz then it goes away. Putting It back to 120hz brings it back. I've power cycled, unplugged, swapped hdmi. Only turning off 120hz fixes the issue at this point. I'm at a loss for what could have happened and how to correct this issue in short of factory resetting.

Two questions 'Xbox One X Enhanced' game features on Xbox One S

X enhanced games are just for the one X not the S

As for 120hz though they can display it games are still max 60fps. The series x which is the next gen xbox will be able to do 120fps games

hdr 120hz 1080 on my series s with the lenovo y25-25?

From the Xbox dashboard head to 'Settings'. This can be done one of two ways, however, the quickest is to hit the Xbox guide button, navigate to the tab with your profile picture, and select ‘Settings’. From here, you’ll want to click on ‘TV & display options’.

In this sub-menu you should see the option for ‘Refresh rate’ underneath ‘Resolution’. If you have an 120Hz display, you should see the option to select either 60Hz or 120Hz from the drop down. You can double check your Xbox Series X or S is outputting at 120Hz by clicking on ‘4K TV details’. Here you can see whether your TV supports 4K UHD at 120Hz and if your TV setup supports up to native 4K at 120fps.

It’s important to note that most Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S games will default to either quality or performance mode. These tend to fall between 30fps and 60fps, with a third mode usually in place for 120fps.

It’s always worth checking a game’s settings or selecting the correct display prompt that may be in place to ensure you're playing your games at the highest framerate possible. cFor example, Rocket League on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is compatible with 120Hz displays, however, you need to navigate the game’s settings then go to ‘Video’ and select ‘Performance’ under ‘Video Quality’ for 120fps support.

If you know that your TV has HDMI 2.1 and is capable of 120Hz, make sure that you’re using the cable included with your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console or an Ultra High-Speed Cable that’s rated for 4K 120Hz output.

It’s also worth noting that if you’re using a receiver or surround sound system, it might not be capable of acting as a pass through for 120Hz, so connect your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series directly to your TV. Finally, if you’re still not sure if your TV supports HDMI 2.1, check your TV’s manual for more information or click on ‘4K TV details’ under ‘TV & display’ options in the Xbox settings menu.

    Hope this helps

Black Screen after turning on 120hz on Series X

As mentioned above, your monitor likely won't support what the Series X needs. Often the refresh rate is slightly different (due to different standards being used)....the Series X needs an exact 120Hz setting to run whereas the monitor may actually be 119Hz so it won't work.

If you have access to a computer or laptop, plug it in to the monitor and then got to Windows settings, click on "System", then "Display"...scroll down to "Advance Display Settings" and click it. This should display your monitor along with the refresh rate it will display. See whether it is displayed as 120Hz or 119Hz

    1440p 120hz on xbox series x

Can't say for sure. This is an older HDMI 2.0 monitor. While most work, some of these displays limit the HDMI refresh rate to 100Hz, which would make 120Hz impossible.

You likely won't find this information any many reviews as Display Port is the common way to connect these displays to the main system they were designed for, PCs. Connecting gaming monitors to consoles in a recent thing, and not all monitors work well with Series X over HDMI. Just because the specs say 165Hz, doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get 120Hz over HDMI.

These monitors however, are all compatible with Xbox Series X|S https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/xbox-series-x
