    I had no problem with my main external hard drive (NTFS formatted) until a week ago (right after the update). I have tested with 2 (portable) hard drives, all 3 show up on windows 10 and work perfectly. I tried all usb ports, tried power cycling, I set the storage to always be on, I completely reset my entire xbox series s. Nothing. I have done all the official troubleshooting steps twice. This is very aggravating. sometimes the "Use for media, or for games & apps" comes up (strangely it shows 0% used on the right) when i first plug a hard drive in and i click use for media. Then go to storage and nothing. Is there a way to go back to a previous update to see if that works? I feel like I've done everything. Is anyone else having this problem?? I just want to watch movies off of my usb hard drive. It worked perfectly before September. I am so frustrated I'm thinking of selling my series s if this problem can't be fixed. The hard drives are 1 seagate external, 1 toshiba portable and 1 wd portable.

    I'm experiencing the same issues with the Xbox Series X. Some of my older WD Elements drives seem to work for media, but the WD Passport 5TB and Seagate Expansion Portable 5TB does not. I've tried everything from switching cables to formatting to NTFS to factory resetting the Xbox and nothing seems to work.

    The strange thing is you can choose "Format Storage Device" and it will work normally but you can't store anything else on it since Windows will not recognize the partition. If you choose "Use for media", you will never see the HDD on your Xbox again unless you do a factory reset.

    Okay, it seems this is a bigger deal, I'm now experiencing the same issue.

    Unfortunately, there is no way to return to older updates, and being completely honest fudge it seems it's an issue with the console, at launch I had an issue with my Series X always crashing and had it replaced like this: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-net...

    Thanks for the reply! No I wiped everything just to be certain. Is there any way to go back to an older update maybe? I swear its the update that did it. It worked fine before then.
