  1. Xbox series s turning on and off randomly

Hello, so I have had my Xbox series s since March but shortly after getting it it’s been turning on and off all day long even when I’m not playing. Then when I am playing it shuts off on me. I made sure it was updated and well vented. What could be the problem?

    :)

Xbox series S turning off randomly

Hi Gary! I'm more than happy to help you!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Xbox Series S console. I understand that you have performed troubleshooting steps yet to no avail as I would totally feel the same way if I were in your shoes. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

Kindly try to perform the following workarounds:

    1. Your console might be getting improper ventilation. If yes, follow these steps:

    Turn off the console.
    Wait at least one hour.
Move the console to a well-ventilated spot.
    Turn on the console.
It is important to make sure your console is in a cool, well-ventilated place. Remove any objects on, under, or right next to the console.

An Xbox Series S console can be placed either horizontally or vertically. Make sure that you place your console on a stable surface that is well-ventilated, relatively cool, and away from direct heat sources. Don't put other objects on, under, or right next to the console.

For proper ventilation and to prevent overheating, be sure that your console has a minimum of 4-6 inches of clearance on all sides. Do not place your console inside an enclosed cabinet. Make sure that none of the console’s vents are blocked.

The video output for the Xbox Series S is supported by the High Speed HDMI cable included with the console. A longer certified Premium High Speed HDMI cable can be substituted if needed.

    2. Reset the internal power supply:

Unplug the power cord from the console.
    Wait 10 seconds.
Plug the cord back into the console, and then press the Xbox button  on the front of the console.

Note: To ensure that your console is receiving the full voltage necessary, plug your console’s power cord directly into a wall outlet and not any kind of surge protector or extension cord.

Check that the wall outlet you’re using is working with other devices.
Check that the power cable is firmly connected to the wall outlet and to your console.
Ensure that you're using the power cable which came with your console, and that it's the correct cable for your region.

    3. Change the console settings so it doesn't turn off automatically:

    Turn on the console.
Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options.
Under Options, select Turn off after, and then select Don’t turn off automatically.

    4. Perform a factory reset keep my games and apps:

Console shutdowns can sometimes happen due to system corruption, requiring the console be reset to factory defaults.

Note: System corruption can sometimes spread to external storage devices, so unplug any external storage (such as external hard drives) before performing a system reset and leave such devices unplugged until you’re able to verify whether the issue is still occurring after the reset.

To reset your console without losing your game data, follow these steps:

Note: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

Nothing to worry, no data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select System.
    4. Select Console info
    5. Select Reset console.
    6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.
