    Xbox Series S - Only getting Stereo to AVR


    Hello - I have what is hopefully a simple problem, I have searched for a solution but have not found one.

    I have connected my Xbox Series S to the HDMI Game port of my STR-DN1080 AVR, I have a 5.1 setup, but when trying to select any of the following options in the xbox settings page I get a message to say the device (STR-DN 1080) does not support it:

    5.1 uncompressed
    7.1 uncompressed
    Bitstream: Dolby Atmos
    Bitstream: DTS:X

    The only options that will work are:

    Stereo uncompressed
    DTS Digital Surround
    Dolby Digital

    With any of these three options, I am unable to get sound from the back speakers.

    I have the resolution set to 4k, I have tried it at 1080p and 720p but it makes no difference.

    I am using the HDMI cable that came with the series S and the AVR supports all of the options listed at 4K

    I would appreciate any help

    The XBox One S absolutely IS 3D capable. I was able to get 3D working by downgrading my audio out. My issue is a device I'm using to split my HDMI outs to send 1 output to the TV, one output to the AVR I have. The TV side is working, I see great 3D, the
    AVR side is not (only works with stereo out).

    I have a audio problem also. Xbox through my avr, sound is great in all modes, but when I play a game, I only get audio from tv. None through my stereo speakers. Any help?

    Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

    I am having the same issue, I can only get Dolby Surround or Stereo while using Netflix. Prime & Disney play Atmos fine.

    Xbox audio settings are correct and on Atmos w/passthrough. AVR is a Denon AVRX4700H w/7.1.2

    Xbox Series X HDMI Audio - Dolby Digital

    I have same problem:

    Xbox Series X linked to HDMI1 on TV to preserve the VRR and from HDMI 4 ARC i link the AVR DENON X2700H.

    If I select DOLBY DIGITAL I have Latency on Audio and it’s impossibile to play, so I need to select Stereo Uncompressed.

    Seriously MS please fix the surround sound issue on the Xbox One...very disappointed :(

    I just set my AVR to multi channel stereo till they fix it ..Sounds just fine ..
