Xbox Series S - HDR with YCC 4:2:2 Problem

    Hey,

On my Xbox Series S, inside the 4K TV Details menu, it shows what your Xbox/Monitor (TV) can and can't do. For me, 1 of these things it says it can't do is play games in HDR10. But, my monitor definitely supports HDR and I have it turned on in my monitor settings. When I enable YCC 4:2:2 in my Video Modes menu, the 4K TV Details menu states I can now play games in HDR10.

However, when I launch a game with YCC 4:2:2 enabled, my screen goes black for a few seconds upon launch and it seems that my display adjusted itself in some way, it also causes the game to appear dark and dim. Nothing in my monitor settings was changed, so it must have been my Xbox changing something to do with my Display upon game launch. I can't check what was changed because when I try to open my Settings app, the same thing happens and my screen goes black for a few seconds to adjust something. Furthermore, when I disable YCC 4:2:2, the black screen never happens and my game launches like normal, so I assume the issue is something with YCC 4:2:2. With this however, if I disable YCC 4:2:2, my 4K TV Details menu, shows that I can't play games in HDR, although I should be able to.

My questions are, why does this happen? As well as, if I have HDR + Auto HDR enabled in my Video Modes menu, as well as HDR turned on via my monitor settings, does it even matter if the 4K TV Details shows that I can't play games in HDR10 (which I'm supposed to be able to)? Will games still be in HDR?

Let me know what you think, thanks.

    :)

TWO XBOX ONE X CONNECTED TO THE SAME PHILIPS TV HDMI PORT BUT REACTING DIFFERENTLY...

I forgot to check the YCC 4:2:2 option in Video Modes.

If anyone has problems regarding HDR on the TV, try to activate the YCC !

Xbox Series S - HDR with YCC 4:2:2 Problem

You will see a slight change in colors on your monitor when you turn on HDR. To activate on the console a TV with 4k is required.

I'm not sure why and if that's the main reason or one of the reasons but a 4k TV screen has more nits than a monitor screen and when you turn on HDR the screen dims a bit

So the higher the NITS of the screen, the higher the illumination.

Xbox Series S - HDR with YCC 4:2:2 Problem

    Hi Samy,

My monitor is marketed as 1440p but it I believe it upscales to 4K (at least my Xbox gives me an option to play at 4K, even my 4K TV Details menu says I can play at 4K with 60Hz and I do notice a resolution difference in games when I'm playing in 4K). However, if my monitor wasn't 4K, then why do I have a HDR option in my monitor settings?

I'm Samy an independent advisor and I'll be helping you :D

    How are you?
Is your monitor 4K? If not, it is not possible to use HDR10 on a screen that does not have 4K.
