Xbox Series S Controller Randomly Disconnects/ Stops Working

Hi Lucas,

I was just playing campaign on Vanguard and I figured out the problem— it happens when I plug my mic in. As soon as I plugged my mic in, I started getting the heavy input delay/drag. I even changed batteries and it still continued, but would stop if I unplugged my mic. I took a video to better show what happens but theres no way for me to post it.

Anyways, I’ve never had this issue with this mic, and I dont see how it could’ve broken or anything. Is there anything I can do to make this stop happening?

P.s.: I use turtle beaches plugged into the xbox to stereo headset adapter, its the one made by xbox as well, so its not aftermarket, nor is the controller.

Maybe the 1080p/120hz could be the issue. The only way would be to test with other games or reinstall Call of Duty Vanguard to test.

Might have a solution for this so please let me know if this also works for you.

I was having the same issues playing the campaign in the new MW2. When playing in 120 fps mode and using headphones every 15 mins my controller would freeze up and the only way to fix it was to take the batteries out and put them back in, and that would only work for another 15 mins or so. i tried everything ive seen in forums. Power cycles, turning off VRR, unplugging the console, resets to factory, different headphones, firmware updates, etc.

I reached out to Microsoft support, and they suggested to delete the save files on my console for that game, and only the save files on my console. I hadn't seen this potential solution before on any forums so I did it, fired up MW2 again, it synced my saves from the cloud so i didnt lost my progress at all, and i've been playing for an hour without the freeze issues again, whereas before it would happen every 15 mins at random.

I've been trying to figure this one out for a long time and i've seen a lot of people struggling the same way, so please please please, if this works for you or not, let me know.

I haven't tried to fully reinstall the game as I'm already approaching my ISP's monthly limit on service before incurring extra fees, but I don't think it'd be anything with the game file being corrupted. I've heard of other people having this issue with other games, Warzone being one of them. I need to test it out with other 120hz games, but I can't afford to uninstall and reinstall the whole entire game right now. I highly doubt that my download file is corrupted though, as I didn't have this issue until I started playing 1080p 120hz on my new monitor, and nothing else has changed (xbox and controller are the same)

I also want to add that I’ve been using my mic/adapter combo for years without issue so nothing is new there. The issue only started happening once I got my new monitor, so im confused what correlation there is between the mic and my new monitor and everything.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do though. I really want to solve this issue as soon as possible, im just extremely disappointed because I cant go a full year without running into some issue with my xbox controllers. I’m on my fourth and fifth controllers right now, mostly because of how many times I’ve gotten analog drift, even though I keep my controllers clean and treat them with great care and caution. Its just disappointing I can’t enjoy my experience on xbox without the controllers ruining it for me in one way or another.
