Xbox Series S - Changing Resolution to 1440p makes image look washed out

I just picked up an Xbox Series S and once I set it up I changed the display resolution to 2k(since my monitor is 2k). Upon doing this the dark grays of the setting screen started to look light gray and all of my games look washed out/overly bright(I've
brought brightness to a minimum and it doesn't fix it).

    :)

Xbox Series X on a monitor

    Hi,

This is the same monitor as I have. I mainly use it for my PC, but I've also connected my Series S to it too. Unfortunately, you won't be able to select 1440P and 120Hz on the LG 27GN850 as it tops out at 100Hz on HDMI at 1440P.

The work around is to change the resolution to 1080P and then select 120Hz. Games on the Series X will still render at 4K but be super-sampled down to 1080P. Yes, it's not as good as the native resolution, but the loss in picture quality shouldn't be that
noticeable. I'm pretty impressed how my Series S looks on it.

    Xbox in game resolution

I have tried trouble shooting the resolution but the game it’s self looks pixelated playing at 1080p on a 1440p monitor when I play any game on the Xbox series s. but if I play the same game on the Xbox one x it plays at the native resolution at 1440p

    Xbox Series X - 1440p?

    Hi,

The maximum supported resolution of Series S will be 1440P. Series X just like the Xbox One X before it will support 1440P too.

It will work on your monitor, don't worry.

This is what 720p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

It offers a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.
720p is the lowest resolution on most HDTVs. However, the image is still excellent and for a screen smaller than 37 inches, the quality of the 720p images is practically similar to that of higher resolution televisions. If your HDTV only has 720p and 1080i as options, you should select 720p for the best resolution.

This is what 1080p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
This offers users a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.

1080p is the most common resolution for movies, television, games, and many of the experiences offered by the Xbox. A 1080p TV offers the best picture quality, allowing you to enjoy Blu-ray movies in the resolution they were designed for. Each line of pixels on the screen is redrawn 60 times per second or faster.

This reduces motion blur and creates a sharp image.

    Gaming on a PC Monitor

Does your picture look bad? The best way to optimise the image is to choose a resolution closest to your screens native resolution. You won't be able to do that with an HDMI type connection though, so if the image looks washed out, you're best swapping
    to a HD-VGA cable.
