    I bought my son a new Series S for Christmas…. 1 month ago

    For the second time since we’ve had it, it won’t connect to the internet. The home internet we have is working fully, with other devices in the house connected to the network and working as expected.

    He has a controller linked to his account so he doesn’t need a password when logging in. Currently, when he activates the device via his controller, instead is signing straight in, it says the device is offline.

    Why is it offline?

    It can see my router, and says it can’t connect. It suggests restarting my router, which I’ve done. And it makes zero difference.

    All other connected devices are working as they should, suggesting there is an issue with the Xbox itself?

    Why does it do this? Is this normal?

    How do I fix it?

    Do I need a new device?

    if you have a pc, try to connect to the Internet on it. You may have to work with your ISP to fix your connection.

    Couple things to try.

    When you go to your network settings, advanced settings, do you see your xbox pulling a 10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x or a 192.168.x.x IP? If you see 169.254.x.x that means your xbox does not appear to be hitting any DHCP device. - Reset the modem/Xbox some times
    works here

    If you are using your ISP provided DNS servers, try changing to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

    I got a couple more suggestions if the above don't work.

    Yes i can run the test and it says im connected to the internet if im using either ethernet or wireless. The multiplayer test fails and says “it can not finish the test”

    Also, on the network page in the settings under “Current Network Status” it tells that “the following services are experiencing issues” but there is nothing there.
