Xbox series audio IN (Mic) from controller + audio OUT from TV (headphones) is not working

    Hi guys,

I am struggling with my audio peripheral setup and I need you help! Xbox series audio IN (Mic) from controller + audio OUT from TV (headphones) is not working :D

    My setup:
XSX <-HDMI-> Gigabyte M32U->jack audio OUT for headphones without mic
XSX <-wire-> controller <- jack audio IN for microphone
    note:
Due to additional peripherals and devices connected to monitor, audio OUT from xbox controller is not what I want, so audio OUT has to be carried over HDMI device. Also I have good music headphones so I dont want to swap it with some average gaming headset. BTW Audio noise from controller is also reason I want to keep audio OUT from HDMI device.

    Issue:
When I am using xbox party chat / beta discord, I cant use audio OUT from HDMI device and controller audio IN mic at the same time. When the mic is not plugged in I can hear other friends + game sound as I should but when I plug in mic to controller, XSX detects it as headset and suddenly they can hear me (audio IN is working) but i cant hear them (audio OUT is not working) but I can hear game sounds.

I tried all audio setting which should grants me chat audio output from speakers (HDMI device),... but I was never able to make it work properly.
    note:
There is no difference if my headphones are plugged in or plugged out of monitor, generally I dont get any party chat audio OUT from HDMI device when mic is plugged in controller.

    :)

Xbox Slim still refusing to acknowledge headphones, both wireless and wired

The 360 is never "aware" of X41 headphones. The included USB power cable only provides power to the transmitter base.

The X41 headphones are plugged into either optical or analog audio out.

For mic support, there's a cable that goes from the headphones to the controller.

You'll get sound out of the TV if you don't turn the TV's speakers off. All audio outputs are active at all times on a 360.

    Hello Josef,
    thank you for your response.

Yesterday I tried also ingame chat which suffered exactly the same problem.

    BUT!

Later that day I desperately tried party chat app again for XXX times (I didnt change anything) with my account + with my another test chatting account (from phone xbox app). Suddenly I could hear the other account when my mic was inserted, althought my mic quality audio was drastically lower than usually. Then I tried to leave chat and call again and mic quality was fine again and I could still hear him. Then I tried it with real friend with xbox and it still worked!

So finally after more than 6 months (when I bought that mic) I could hear them and they could hear me properly! :) -> SOLVED

BTW It happens to me even when I wasnt of insider program. I remember I was rolling out, doing factory resets,... and it didnt solve anything.
I was also checking HW standards, my peripherals compatibility,... and everything looked as there should be no problem. I was also thinking about some
,,voltage anomaly" which occurs sometimes with video/data transfers to external displays connected over DVI/HDMI/USB-C,.... where you sometimes cant make it working from start and monitor is getting "no input", So you have to unplug cables, sometimes also power suply and then reconnect it again with proper sequence and then it starts working.
Aproximately 2 days back there was some controller update + another insider update, so maybe it could make something better, but after them and after another ~2 restarts I was trying it over and over and still nothing...just later yesterday as I wrote above, it started working.

Another interesting fact: In my initial post I wrote nothing has changed if I changed party chat audio output to headset (controller} or speakers (HDMI) in audio setting. Now when I changed output to headset, I heard nothing (which is correct, because its only plugged mic in controller) and when I changed to speakers, I could hear it again correctly so something had to change definitely.
Anyway 1 "I dont care" issue persist: When I am testing audio and there is animation showing you which speaker should make some sound now (left/right,..), its still muted. But everything I need is working for now, so its not really bothering me.

I will rather save info about controller and xbox update patch version, if this problem would ever come back.

    Petr

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this buddy

Is this happening since you get the insider preview?

I'll be waiting for your reply, greetings from another Microsoft user

Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter - echoing problems?

This might sound silly, but you muted the audio from your tv right? If you have the audio coming out of your tv as well as out of your headphones, the headset mic often picks up the audio and repeats it back causing the echo.
