    Xbox Series 2 Controller - PC - Stops Responding


    Recently purchased a Xbox Series 2 controller, when using the controller through bluetooth on PC the devices tends to stop responding after certain actions. It tends to happen the most when a game action causes rumble or vibration in the controller. Other times the controller just stops responding randomly. The only way to fix it in the short term is by turning the controller off and reconnecting it, it does not occur when used through wire. Why would this be happening? Is there any level of Event View logs that can indicate issues of this level or any type of 'debug' that can be enabled to figure out why it just stops responding?

    I see references that this is a consistent issue among Xbox controllers on PC both for older models and for the newer 'Series' line of controllers. It seems more consistent to occur with the 'Series' line.

    Controller's firmware has been updated via the xbox accessories app.

    Bluetooth adapter is a GIGABYTE GC-WBAX210

    Update: I have 2 older controllers originally for xbox one. These both work normally. I also have 2 newer controllers for series xs, that have been working great so far, but the moment i turn one of the newer ones on, all controllers stop responding.. Any ideas?

    I updated my xbox series S in anticipation of some driving over xmas, went to play today and the controller works on the xbox screens but as soon as I open a game (Project Cars 2, or even something non driving), the G920 stops responding and I get the "Controller disconnected screen", and from then on it only responds to the wireless hand controller. If I hit the Microsoft button on the wheel it takes me back and I can navigate around the xbox screens, but not in games.

    I'm not sure I understand that last message. Do you suspect that the controller is broken, and that's why it won't maintain a bluetooth connection? What steps would you like me to take to verify this?

    Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

    Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

    The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

    Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

    Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

    The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

    Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."
