Xbox Select Voice Command Disabled or Gone for Good?

Your right that the uses for Kinect were far reaching, no doubt much further than Microsoft realised (especially in your case)

However I get the feeling that Microsoft listened to the community at large, and the response was to drop the Kinect. It simply wasn't being used by the gamers out there, and even if it was being used, it wasn't being used enough for Microsoft to spend
resources into developing it any further than they had.

I know its not the answer your after, but that's just the way it is.

Have you though about other pieces of tech that could do the same thing as the Kinect? Something like perhaps.

Thanks for the response. And I understand what you’re saying about the lack of demand for the Kinect and Microsoft’s move away from the Kinect, however, I am not asking for further development. I am simply asking for the software that was in place 3 months
ago to be available. Even if it were in the form of an app that runs in the background or an optional update. Again, Microsoft has the software already, they just removed it from the OS.

If you go into the settings section and disable Cortana the console will switch back to the legacy Xbox voice commands.

If, for whatever reason, Cortana isn’t what you want, you have the option to go back to the original voice control model using the "Xbox" command. When you switch, here’s what you’ll lose:

Headset voice control

Expanded commands and voice recognition

Voice-to-text input (dictation)

You can bring back Cortana at any time.

To revert to the original voice control model:

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > All settings.

Select System > Cortana settings.

In the snapped window on the right, highlight the On switch, and press the A button to turn it to Off."

Go into your regional settings and change your country to New Zealand.

You can disable it under Settings and Kinect, unplug it (quick fix),

...or change your locale to NZ English (because M won't support voice commands if you have it selected on NZ English locale). The latter requires a console restart. Many NZ'rs I recon have tried it under Australia English I've tried it once and yay it works.
After all the console is region free. I don't like to lie about which country I'm from 99.9% of the time I keep it on NZ locale but M isn't giving us in NZ much choice until they role out voice commands for NZ. Australia is only 2 hours behind us. Not like
were switching it to a country locale on the other side of the world. It's just an option to keep in mind.
