    Hi Xbox Support,

    So I bought my Scorpio edition at launch and had no issues at all until this weekend. Out of the blue the console, after a period of a few hours refused to power on after being in standby. Pressing the controller did nothing, the tv when switched to the
    xbox source usually would start the console, not this time, and when pressing the button on the console it would chime but do nothing. I also noticed the console was quite warm even having been off all night.

    To resolve I had to pull the power cable, wait a few seconds and then reconnect.

    Now as a one off I wasn't that concerned however it keeps happening after a given amount of time in standby. I haven't been able to trigger the issue myself when trying so it must be after a decent period of time in standby.

    This weekend I got the xbox exchanged given it may have been a fault. Got the new xbox home, setup and tested, popped it in standby for about 4 hours... same issue.... help!

    Connected directly to wall socket (same as all my xbox have been in) routed via a Samsung 7 series 4k hdr tv.

    Do I need to get this 2nd xbox swapped? Odd because I had 2 weeks with no issues at all.

    So I just now turned on my xbox after it has been on standby all day and the power button is flashing again so nothing so far has fixed it. It's obvious the standby mode does not work properly as I have to completely shut it down and reboot it after it
    is on standby for too long. I really hope they fix this in the next update.

    Where to Plug in The Xbox One?

    I got idea what they are thinking of. It could mess up XB1 standby option. For instance if you power down everything through power strip switch and thus lock XB1 into standby state.

    Hey there Nhails.

    Odd that this is occurring without any type of power strip in between. Do you possibly have a different HDMI cable you can test to see if that may be causing issues with your TV connection? Also if you can, are you able to test a different wall outlet and/or
    TV?

    The warmth is normal. Instant on mode is NOT ALL OFF mode. The SOC and memory on the X1X are on the top side of the box now, so you can feel the warmth more easily of the system in a low power state.

    Wonder if a system update has caused this behavior.

    The warmth is normal. Instant on mode is NOT ALL OFF mode. The SOC and memory on the X1X are on the top side of the box now, so you can feel the warmth more easily of the system in a low power state.

    Wonder if a system update has caused this behavior.

    Whenever I turn my xbox one back on, I get the green screen with the xbox logo for about 30 seconds. Then I have to wait for all my games and apps to load back

    Your Xbox was putting the power saving mode like everyone’s Xbox after the last firmware update, as a way to stop using unnecessary power. Sleep uses abit 1/20th the energy of standby. . If you wish to change this, go into settings and choose power and have it go to standby instead

    Yes my ups has a battery and it there for the uninterrupted power but when i turn off the ups, it cuts off power from everything that's connected to it.

    Also I've unplugged the xbox before and still after plugging in and powering on after couple of hours it still turns on instantly without going into cold boot.

    And just now i was checking the energy save mode and found that the console doesn't just fully turn off if energy saving mode is on. It takes about 5minutes to turn off fully.

    So for me i think standby is fine and i can just fully shutdown console before removing power if removing power while on standby is actually hurting the xbox.

    LOL, I'm not on standby. I always power off my Xbox completely after gameplay as I said in OP.
