Not going to complain about having a console with more power, the Xbox One is under-powered, so I'm very interested in the Scorpio.

  6. I love 360(since 2012), never a dull moment using either. Had a PS3 two years before that.

Had X1 for a month now and really disappointed - too much wannabe-mediacenter and many other things than game console.

Spent hours reading help text which I never had to on 360.

You start doing one thing on a menu, but get message you must install this app for that - and since I'm always offline, I have to abort what I was trying to do.

All patches are huge, and seriously eat up my monthly bandwidth of data. I've had Forza 6 for some weeks now, but cannot install it until november because of expected patch sizes.

If this is further in direction with Scorpio it will not be a purchase.

I even think about getting rid of X1 and the games I purchased so far - not impressed at all.

  7. So you'd be willing to pay the price of a decent PC for a console?

I'm not trying to knock consoles here but part of their appeal to me is great gaming at a lower price than a comparable PC. Bump the price up to PC levels and why would you not just buy a PC?

There is still the ease of use argument of course but Windows 10 has blurred those lines to almost nothing.

Personally I think they'll take a hit to sell the Scorpio below cost. They are already pushing their luck with a mid generation hardware refresh, they aren't going to want to alienate their userbase any more than needed with PC level pricing.

I'd still prefer console gaming even if it was more expensive. I'm not too savvy with computers other than certain software I've been trained to use. I just want to pick up and play without having to adjust settings, or drivers or anything else you might
have to do on a pc. I know people say it's easier now, but still not as simple as console gaming.

  10. I wouldn't fancy paying more than £600 for the Scorpio. As long as I can play most games at 1080p 60FPS, happy days.

  11. I'm not sure how much more simple it needs to get. Settings are automatically chosen depending on your system specs, I think a tad cautiously to be honest, to give you the best playing experience.

Mess with drivers? Windows Update takes care of all that for me . Indeed I find the experience more user friendly on Windows 10 as thanks to System Restore I can get rid of one update instead of blitzing the whole cache as on console.

Which I why I said that I think they are going to take the hit and sell the Scorpio below cost. Windows 10 is the easiest to use version of the OS but a lot of competition exists, Microsoft will want the software sales a hardware refresh is going to bring.

PS4 Pro will be releasing in NZ and Sony has given an RRP of NZ$639. I don't see Microsoft beating that price. They'll probably charge like $749 or NZ$899 for it in NZ. When Xbox 1 launched in NZ, Microsoft charged NZ$749 for it. Big companies seem to charge
MORE than the currency conversion even with your countries GST on top of it. $1 NZ = 97 Australian cents, and it's been like that for about 2 years.

I was at a buddies house the other day playing Battlefield 1 on his pc. The game crashed about 6 times in the hour I was there. No thanks. I don't have time for that. Console gaming is just easier.

  14. And I've seen a friend's Xbox One version of Fallout 4 crash back to his home screen several times in a similar span of time. We can each point to a specific example of the failure of a game on a system, that doesn't mean they are bad.

But the point is not that games crash, they do so on consoles and PCs, the point once again swings back to pricing. You'll see PC gamers complain quite strongly about issues such as that, they find it unacceptable on a system they've paid a decent lump of money
for. If I was only paying $300 for a console (the price of a Xbox One S on Amazon) the crashes wouldn't be that much of an issue for me, I'd take it as a flaw of the price point.

However if I start paying PC level money for my console, then those same issues become just as unacceptable as they do on a PC of the same cost. Those same game crashes that are easy to accept at $300 become unacceptable at $600 plus.

As the price goes up, the more picky people tend to be. Which again is why I see Microsoft taking a hit on the cost. People are a lot more forgiving if they think they've got a deal.

  15. I think early adopters are exposed much more to bugs in games and consoles in general.

I bought PS3 2010, it were out about 4 years already and I bought games dirt cheap as well as well as bugfree games, on a bugree console.

2012 I bought 360, and same thing there - not problems at any time, not a single one.

But I bought releases that were maybe 1-2 years old at least - games are not worse just because they had been out for a while, in my view.

But I never play online, which will make a difference if games servers are removed when you buy the game.

I well suited gaming PC - everybody know what you pay more for is not reliability at all, rather the opposite extending the performance to it's very limits.

    Everything in visuals - ON.

    Overclocking - ON.

With such a wide variety of equipment and brands thereof a PC i much more expected to fail - nothing to do with price.

A console though, devs run the same machine and it should work - or it's not tested enough.

Exception then for that console manufacturer Microsoft/Sony/NIntendo might release a firmware update that sinks the ship.

If there is a Scorpio next year, I will not go anywhere near it until summer 2018 or so. It's bound to be trouble in my view - look at this forum, haha.
