Xbox Scalping

What's the rules with retail stores scalping There is a chain playntrade canada scalping the Xbox on eBay au. surely retail chains have rules to follow

How can selling on something purchased legally be illegal? I'm afraid the world doesn't work that way.

Sure for anyone legitimately interested in this new hardware, scalping is really annoying, but nothing new. Not sure what the amounts were, but I recall Xbox 360 consoles being sold on eBay for very high prices back in 2005/6.

Same thing happens with other technology, especially phones.

Since when is it illegal?

It's not illegal. It's just they are taking advantage of it. Once someone has bought their merchandise, it's out of their hands. They can't do anything then.

I’m completely pissed off about how Microsoft has handled the new console sales. I have been a loyal xbox customer since the first one and every xbox console since. I have passed that loyalty onto my son.

with regard to the Xbox Series X, for Microsoft to enable if not encourage these third party resalers to commandeer the sales of new consoles is beyond frustrating.

Microsoft is a technology company for g0d’s sake. Why am i not able to sign into my microsoft account, preorder a new console and recieve it 1,2 or even 6 weeks later???!!!!?? That is the exact process i used with my new iphone without a single problem or
requiring me to go to StockX or some other bs resolaer.

The notion that Microsoft can’t control its manufacturing scale up and distribution channels is laughable, outdated and very frustrating such that i may be moving on from xbox.
