Xbox says it is connected to the network even though no wire is actually connected

Tried to play online last night but couldn't connect to the network. Checked network settings and it said I had a wired connection. Tested the connection and it said it was good, but when I went to test the speed it said I was not connected. Thought maybe my router or switch were bad so unplugged the network cable and tried to connect wirelessly. Even though the plug was not connected, it still told me I was connected to a wired connection. Power cycled same thing. Restored to factory settings, something. Restored to factory settings removing all games and apps, same thing. When resetting, it hangs up on the update screen saying I am not connected to the internet and gives an error code that indicates that. Tried to test the connection. When I pick wired it says I am connected even though there again is no wire connected to the Xbox. Tried to pick wireless, typed in the SSID and it says I need a connection using WPA2 security, even though that is how my router is setup. Tried an offline update, but it doesn't recognize my USB drive. Tried multiple drives...think I have to send more significant help, but if anyone has other ideas, I am open to hearing them.

I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

Please try to test connecting your console to another network and check if the same problem occurs, you could configure your smartphone as a Mobile Hotspot and connect your console to that network.

Let me know if the behavior is the same.

No "checking service status" is not permanent. After awhile it says service info is unavailable. When I test multiplayer connection it says my network isn't set up, even though it said It was when I tested network connection. And no, there is no way to wire
connect.

So are you saying that even if your reset your Xbox network settings to factory defaults and connect wired to your router it doesn't get past the network part of the test? (the connection to your router)

It could be the amount of devices on the network. Even though no one is using these devices, it still uses data on the network. Try to turn off the everything that uses a wireless connection and a wired connection try the test again. It should be faster.
My internet is really slow if my iphone is connected to the internet. Even though I'm not using it.

I can't get AW to connect either, it says "you must have an active network connection to play xbox live or system link matches" even though I am connected to Xbox live.
