    Xbox saying my disc is dirty but its brand new


    I received a a game for my birthday I haven't actually played from a disc in many years so didn't expect there to be a problem but I put it in and a pop-up screen came up saying that disc is dirty or damaged however there is nothing wrong with the disc and
    I've tried others as well another their working and if it doesn't come up with that it doesn't come up with anything at all.

    I've tried all the standard things turning on and off doing a reset making sure it's up to date pulling the plug out etc.

    I'm past warranty so I'd have to get it repaired and it would be pricey and I just don't have that sort of money if it's something to do with with the actual console itself.

    Any ideas ?

    I also had the same problem as well a couple years ago when none of my discs worked. some worked but crashed during title screen. Mine randomly fixed itself.

    That's exactly what I'm dealing with! Does your xbox say that the disc is dirty and boots you out of the game? I checked my disc and it is practically brand new.

    when i try and install disc it gets to 49% and says can't read disc. it may be scratched or dirty but its not as its a brand new game and i have checked it. don't what else to do. really winding me up.

    supposedly this is our Disc Drives going out... Which is BS... Just bought MW3 today from Target brand new in the wrapper... comes up with the status error Play CD Play DVD... i am returning my copy of MW3 tomorrow after trying it in my friends xbox... i
    know my Xbox is running PERFECTLY Black Ops and MW2 run just fine... every now and then it says Play MW3 i click it like normal and blam it says my disc is dirty or scratched... Like HELL its a brand new disc... MICROSOFT FIX YOUR SYSTEMS OR I WILL FILE A
    LAWSUIT FOR FAILURE TO MAKE A PRODUCT THAT DOES AS ADVERTISED...

    same here.keep getting stuck in the installing progress menu then i have to reboot the console.
