Xbox S/X controllers not working properly

I have a couple of issues with newer Xbox S/X controllers and older Xbox one controllers. There are also issues with third-party apps. These issues are recent and never use to be an issue until a recent Windows update.

MY SETUP

I'll describe my setup. I have a Windows 10 gaming desktop Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041. I have 6 Xbox controllers, two are Xbox one controllers and four are the new Xbox S/X controllers. I have two hooked up via micro USB cords (xbox1) and four (Xbox
S/X) are linked up via Bluetooth through my motherboard (not an adapter). I bought these controllers to play games with multiple people. According to Microsoft, you can hook up 8 Xbox controllers to a PC. 4 Bluetooth and 4 wired or 8 wireless when you buy
the wireless Xbox adapter for windows 10.

THE ISSUE

The first issue is the controllers connected via Bluetooth randomly disconnecting from my computer (controller starts slowly flashing), yet my desktop pc says the controllers are still connected. This will happen in the middle of games. Most of the time
they will NOT reconnect by themselves. They have to be removed from the devices page in settings, then repaired with Bluetooth, only to disconnect again 5-10 minutes later.

The second issue is that my controllers are not working anymore with video games that allow up to eight players. I have also noticed steam will not notice more than four Xbox controllers but will notice when additional non-Xbox controllers are plugged in.
This leads me to believe that this issue is with Windows 10 and Xbox controllers, not steam. Also, games that allow options to disable Xinput, when Xinput is disabled, it will not allow any of the Xbox controllers to work with the game (they still work with
Windows 10, you can press the home button on all controllers). No buttons will work when pressed in the game. When Xinput is enabled, all games will work with up to
ONLY four Xbox controllers, not eight like they are advertised.

The Problem and solution?

These games are built to play with up to eight players and eight controllers at the same time. In fact, they use to work just fine until recently. After a Windows 10 update came out all eight-player compatibility with Xbox controllers stopped working. This
issue is not isolated to just one or two 8 player games.

I'm not sure which Windows 10 version caused this error. Here is a testimony from a person on the issue of 8 player co-op with Xbox controllers:

"We have a bunch of gaming laptops and several haven't been used in a while, so I fired one up that was on build 1903 and it actually worked!

Tested two other gaming laptops with 2004 and 1909 and it did not work on either of those."

It seems to be an issue with a Windows 10 update and Xinput and direct input

Whats the big deal?

The controllers are for games, and Xbox controllers are advertised to allow up to 8 controller connections at a time. While it is true you can have eight controllers working with Windows 10 at the same time, all 8 player game functionality has seemed to
stop just recently which defeats the purpose of advertising the controllers for up to 8 people. Personally I just spend $200 on controllers for the holidays with family and right now it will not work.

THE QUESTION(S)

Are there any know solutions or workarounds in the local community?
