Discus and support Xbox S not Upscaling Old Blu-rays in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Why are my BRs not upscaling to 4k. Everything else is done with out issues.     Xbox S not Upscaling Old Blu-rays


    Why are my BRs not upscaling to 4k. Everything else is done with out issues. How do i fix it.

    Xbox One S, how to stop blu rays from upscaling to 4k

    Hey guys. This might sound silly but for some reason I find my Samsung 4k UN65KU6300 upscale of regular blu rays to 4k looks better than xbox one s (idk if maybe its a settings thing lol). Is there a way I can stop my xbox one s from upscaling my regular
    (not 4k discs) blu rays to 4k? I already am able to do this with games thankfully by having my dominant output be 1080P (love that it switches automatically when playing 4k blu rays or content)

    Does X1 S Upscale Games and Blu-Rays to 4K?

    Hey everyone,

    I'm considering getting an X1 S in the near future. But I wanted to confirm some of its features, first.

    1. I know that the S has a 4K UHD Drive, so it can play 4K Blu-Rays.

    But, does the S actually upscale regular Blu-Rays to 4K? Or, does it output regular Blu-Rays at their normal resolution and let the 4K TV do the upscaling?

    I've heard conflicting reports about this.

    2. Likewise, I know the S can't do true 4K gaming, but does it upscale all X1 games ( including already released X1 games ) to 4K? Or, does it only upscale certain games to 4K, such as new upcoming games designed to take advantage of the S?

    To clarify, a standard 1080p Blu-ray will not upscale on the Xbox One S. You would need to use a 4K UHD disc to obtain a 4K picture. If you'd like to see this added as a feature, we'd welcome your feedback on our feedback website

    "Ultra HD" Blu-Rays will play in 4K. Standard Blu-Rays will play in 1080p.

    The Xbox One S will only output to the highest resolution offered by the Blu-Ray disc it plays.

    I suppose this design choice was in mind because 4K/UHD-TVs already process and upscale a lower resolution image to "cleanly" use all of the 3840x2160 pixels, so it's not putting unnecessary load on the Xbox One S CPU.

    Xbox One and Xbox One S are 1080P Gaming

    Xbox One S will play 4K Blu Ray's

    Xbox One X will play Game in 4K if they are Enhanced with 4K Support + 4k Blu Ray support

    They Xbox One X will also Upscale on a 1080p screen so you will see some benefit of the Xbox One X

    dvd playback is horrible

    It totally upscales DVDs. I've been watching old Harry Potter movies and they look great. My television shows them at 1080p/ 60fps. The old movies look as good as blu ray in my opinion. It even upscaled my DVD of a really old television show from the 70s
    to make it actually watchable. Without upscaling it looks horrendous.

    ^ hey, thanks for replying and thanks for sharing your experience. glad to hear I'm not the only one.

    yeah. it's frustrating. and on top of this issue, I just learned that the S really doesn't upscale regular Blu-Rays to 4K, despite what MS says on their official support page - they say everything is supposed to upscale to 4K when you set the S output
    to 4K UHD. But apparently, that's not the case with regular Blu-Rays.

    so, yeah, 2 issues that are frustrating and disappointing.
