As long as you’re using two different account on two different consoles that shouldn’t be a problem and they can definitely play any game together.

To check what will be the necessary steps to perform may I ask what game they’re trying to play and if they’re getting an error message before one of them will be kicked out of the game?

each child has their own account from which they purchase games through an Ultimate subscription independent from my account.

Does that help explain the set up?

thank you for taking the time to reply. One child was playing Rec Room while the other was playing Halo. Each is on a seperate console but joined as Family Members under my account.

Hope this provides sufficient information to provide a reply I can understand.

I just want to clarify, do they both own the games that they're trying to play?

With Xbox, when we add accounts under the family group it means that we will be able to manage their account's privacy and security settings but that doesn't mean that the game that we own or subscription will be shared with them.

Also, sharing games and subscriptions can only be done on one console at a time through Home Xbox feature.

If there are three accounts first one is yours where the games and subscriptions are active, then second that doesn't have them, and third account that also does not have games and subscription what will happen is that only one of them can play the game at one point.
