    Hey microsoft community,

I am a new freshman in college and have been trying to connect to school wifi but cannot- when I select my wifi I receive the message "This console supports..., but your router is using something else. You'll need to change it's configuration" and I am lost
on what to do to fix this. the wifi I'm trying to join is a WPA-Enterprise.

    Changing router's security protocol

I'm having an issue trying to connect to Xbox Live as my internet at my college has kicked off of live permanently. I'm trying to change my Wifi network, but for some reason, I keep getting an error message saying that I have to change my router information.
    Can anybody help me please.

    Thanks.

    Changing router's security protocol

    Hi

It's not unusual for some networks to block access to some websites / other networks (I know as I have had some issues with Netflix previously), If any of your friends in the same college as you also have an Xbox One can you check with them as well to see
if they are experiencing similar problems to yourself.

    Xbox router's security protocol

Many campuses block gaming consoles from connecting.
Connect your console to a PC via a bridged connection, and then just connect the PC to the internet.

The reason this works is because your Xbox is using your PC as a proxy to connect to the LAN. Basically, all the router sees is your PC connecting, even though it is your Xbox using the internet.

  5. Hi there,

As you are at a college, and the security protocol is WPA-Enterprise, you will need to work with the IT group there for how to connect the console to it.

WPA-Enterprise is not the same as WPA (personal).

    routers security protocol

You will have to look up your router's model number online for steps on how to access the web settings through your browser (typically). There's that, and a default username and password (if one hasn't been configured yet).

The best security protocol to use for Wifi is WPA2-PSK (AES).
