    Xbox resolution won’t return to 4k


    So heres the deal,

    i bought my girlfriend a projector for her birthday a few days ago, we plugged the xbox into it as it said it supported 1080p quality. It looked fine for a few minutes but all of the sudden it wouldn’t work anymore. We plugged the xbox back into the tv to
    see the issue and it wasn’t turning on. Said it wasn’t hooked up to the TV via hdmi however we tried plugging my laptop into the tv with the same hdmi and it worked perfectly fine so we knew it was the xbox. We finally got it to turn on after troubleshooting
    it on in low resolution mode. However, it will not revert back to 4k res no matter what I do. My tv is 4k and brand new and 100% can support 4k as it has before with the xbox before this. Ive tried everything on the internet to change the resolution settings
    but everytime i do it goes back to 640 x 480 and says the tv cant support 4k... which it can. This isnt the tv as we plugged it into my computer monitor and it did the same thing. What im trying to figure out here is how to get it working normal again. It
    doesnt want to go back to regualar resolution,( or even 720 p for that matter). It goes right back to 640 x 480 after trying everything. Including changing it to auto detect and manual HDMI in the xbox’s settings. Im concerned that plugging it into the projector
    some how broke it? I just dont know how. Id really like to get it fixed back to regular resolution and hope someone out there knows how to fix this. Thank you!!

    Ive tried everything. I try to switch it to auto and try every resolution mode possible but nothing seems to work. All it does it says “that didnt work” when I try to switch the resolution. The weird thing is when thexbox turns on, the green logo is in HDR.
    But the home screen itself is in 640 x 480 quality for some reason. Thanks for your help though.

    have you checked the refresh rates?

    Hi,

    Have you tried resetting the display settings to automatic (or if so have you tried a lower resolution i.e. 720p)?

    I would also suggest a different cable as per djmistapot as I have had a cable failure before.

    Not sure why this would matter but have you tried another HDMI cable?
