Xbox resetting and not detecting hard drive

    Xbox resetting and not detecting hard drive


    Can anyone help me fix this issue? I have had this happen multiple times but now it just wont resolve itself and its done it twice this week. What happens is my xbox 360 slim will completely reset itself and then ask for a system update that doesnt even
    exist and it doesnt detect the harddrive. I know there is a similar issue where you have to format it completely but for me it doesnt even read that the hard drive is even connected along with my USB. I fixed it thw other day after resetting my console and
    replacing the harddrive a couple times but now its not working. If i cant get it resloved then im going to not be able to play for a while. I will appreciate any help And thanks in advance.

    Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable to Computer Hard Drive Question

    I should probably elaborate and say I took the hard drive out of the computer so its not connected in anyway and also part of the reason I am asking even though its not working is because my xbox is having trouble detecting my USB Flash Drives so I was thinking
    that potentially it may just be having trouble detecting my hard drive.

    Hi there,

    the thing to try is to determine what part is causing the failure. The console or the hard drive.

    For example, if your hard drive will work fine on a different console and a different hard drive that works on a different console but won't work on yours, then your console is causing the issue and needs to be repaired.

    If your hard drive isn't working on a different console but a different hard drive is working on your console, then the problem is caused by the hard drive itself.

    Depending on the outcome you may need to get the console repaired or get a different hard drive.

    Hello, I kept my games and apps when I did the factory reset. However, I only have 3 games downloaded to the internal hard drive. When I started having the issues I saw that my external hard drive was no longer detected by the Xbox.

    Hm, if i put the hard drive in the data transfer cable and then put the cable into my Xbox, it detects the hard drive as if it's actually plugged in itself, but if i remove the cable it says there's nothing detected. Strange.
