Xbox required for Cross Play?

My first game console was an xbox and for many years after that I was an xbox fanboy. However, I eventually got tired of paying for a new console every couple of years and I started to like certain games that weren't available on the xbox due to console
exclusivity. As time went on, it just wasn't worth buying the latest console and so I joined pc gamers. However, I would feel a bit of sadness seeing some games come out on the xbox that I was interested playing but I still didn't regret my choice of moving
to pc gaming. Now imagine the excitement I felt when during the E3 press conference when they started talking about their cross play.

Right now what I would like to know is if I have an xbox live account and windows 10 computer would I be able to play those compatible games or would I still need to buy an xbox one or *sigh* a scorpio when it comes out? I've been a gold member for 9 years
now and although I haven't used my gold account for a while, I'm still paying the membership on it for nostalgia sake. That ends in a couple of months and now I'd like to know if I've been given a reason to continue to extend my gold account or if it's finally
time I should just let go.

Microsoft! allow cross-play with other platforms!

Im glad they never allowed cross platform on Mortal Kombat with the WII.I heard WII users could do fatalities with a flick of the wrist while Xbox required some long complicated button combos.Nintendo wins...fatality..lol

 

Forza Horizon 3 -Xbox Live Gold?

xbox play anywhere allows you to play on either console or pc as long as the purchase is made through digital from the windows store in windows 10 or throgh the xbox console. I would also stress digital purchuse and not phyiscal discs. This would be digital
ownership modep that is similar to other store like Google Play and Apple's App store. One purchause that extends to various device in the Microsoft devices ecosystems.

As of now it seems its primarily to xbox first party games and a few smaller developer that has sign on for the xbox play anywhere model. For it to be a viable model xbox need larger third party developer like EA, Activision and etc to sign on.

But this is a exciting step foward and I hope I can just move over to PC and play the xbox games with my friends.

The only question i wanna know is "is the game only access by 1 account on the xbox" I share my xbox with my brothers and it will be a pain of he had to buy his own copy full price "on ky xbox" just to play a game I have "on my xbox".

At any single point in time, you may only sign into the game on one Xbox One console or one Windows 10 PC. You cannot be signed into the same game on both an Xbox One console and a Windows 10 PC at the same time.
