Xbox reputation help?

Hello!

I have an issue that's recently came up regarding my reputation

I play a wide variety of games on Xbox but this problem seems to centre around a particular first person shooter - Overwatch

I am a very sensitive/defensive person in general, largely due to being an openly gay individual which isn’t always met with the most welcoming reception and the large majority of
people i bump into on Xbox seem to not be ashamed to use it (amongst many other colourful topics) when there is a conflict. I always try and keep a stiff lip towards this but at times i just disagree with people so much I feel i can’t sit in silence.

This sadly means when I’m in the environment of a competitive game such as Overwatch which at times doesn’t attract the most friendly demographic especially when you play in its competitive
scene, the situation(s) get very heated and tensions rise.

Since the game is also a ‘hero based shooter’ that requires a great deal of communication and team work everyone tends to be on a microphone and then able to voice their opinion easily.
This is usually to try and help the situation, however it can end up doing the total opposite if there is too many people disagreeing/ trying to apply blame etc which in a great deal of my recent experiences has happened.

I like to play certain heroes that many people don’t deem ‘viable’ or too ‘niche’ which they instantly like to voice and put pressure on me to change. I am all for communicating with
your team to gain a ‘better’ composition but it’s the instant unforgiving hostility and ‘blame-game’ when something goes wrong or you fail to do what someone want you to do that really has worn me down throughout my time playing the game.

I also tend to play by myself or with one other person so i more than likely get placed with large stacks of players who are together, so if there is a conflict it is very one sided
due to no one would blame their friend or someone they know when its easier to go for the stranger that you have no attachments to. Being ganged up on is not something i respond well to at all due to having previously being subject to it so i tend to lose
my composure and fight back which i know is wrong but when I’m upset and in the heat of the moment it feels like the right thing to do when after the game has ended it is so insignificant you just feel disappointed in yourself in rising to the bait.

I know the reputation system doesn’t let someone just say to all their friends report you but since the group has been recorded as been playing with me i feel it is happening anyway.

Within a single week i have went from not even a single notification about my reputation down into avoid me. i come across people who messaged they’re going to get the group they’re
playing with to report me due to my character choice (or some other reason) ‘throwing’ the game, i didn’t pay much attention to their threats because i didn’t think it would be a valid claim and the way they were handling themselves and the things they were
saying to me were so immature and nasty but i looked into how the reputation system works and since they always outnumbered me i seem to be sat in this hopeless situation which i know i shouldn’t allow them to get a rise out of me but when you’re in that situation
it is hard to look at it with hindsight.

Just checked on there and some fudgeer has reported my gamertag in the last 6 months, was it you @Rorifett there was that one game on BF1 :laugh:
