XBox repeatedly stops being able to control cable box

Hello all- thanks for taking the time to read.

Today I hooked up my cable box (Motorola RNG150N - comcast service). I've successfully set up the Xbox function to change channels and power off 3 seperate times. each time I've left the TV for a period of time the console loses the ability to control
the stb.

Has anyone experienced this as well and if so, have you found a solution?

(ps. There are no IR obstructions with my connect. )

XB1 doesn't play nice with my cable box (Samsung SMTH3270)

Once the cable box is passed thru the xbox one's hdmi-in port, the cable box ceases to function properly. It won't change channels via any input thru xbox
and the cable box's own remote stops being able to control the cable box. Eventually, the cable box freezes up and I have to reboot. Rebooting cable box and/or xbox doesn't seem to solve the issue. Please help, I'd like to use TV thru
my Xbox One!

Cable provider: Time Warner

Cable Box: Samsung SMT-H3270

I am not able to control my cable box. (Xbox watch espn). I have called and talked to support who put me on these forms. It does recognize what I am saying and is able to control my tv (Xbox volume up). My equipment. Cable provider. Suddenlink Communications.
Cable box. Pace RNG200N

 

Strange. Does it also lose the ability to control the volume on your TV/AVR, or is only STB control lost?

No, it only loses control of the STB - it's very odd. I'll "sync" it to the STB and it will perform all functions as it should even voice commands to change to a certain channel and then once it's left alone for a bit, it's a no go.

 

Thanks. 2 more questions:

1) Does a hard reboot (press+hold power button for ~10 seconds) fix it?

2) What codeset is configured for your RNG150N? C1982? What if you go through setup again, lie to the first question and say "no" it didn't work, but then say "yes" to anything that works after that? You should end up at C1376. Does that change the experience?

 

As of now the remote code that the Xbox wants to use is c3916 (which no longer works).

I've done a hard reboot but to no avail. I just removed the device (STB), attempted to setup again, and it can't tell what box it is at all now.

Ok...so, I just revisited the troubleshooting page and found out that XB1 controls the STB via Kinect IR. I didn't realize this; I thought it was controlled through the HDMI cable for some reason. I previously stated that there is no IR obstruction on
the Kinect (which there's not) it's just not facing the STB as that and all the components for that matter are in a media closet.

I have ordered an IR emitter through amazon and I have a feeling that will definitely do the trick.

I was having the same problems as you with the same STB.

What remote code are you using? I can not get a signal to the STB at all....
