Xbox remote won't trun on unless plugged into device

I got this remote April? of 2024 from target. I used it for about 6 months before the batteries died and when I replaced them it wouldn't turn back on, Maybe my batteries are old? Nope i've tried many different ones. The remote will not even light up unless plugged into device, it won't charge or anything. I guess my warranty is expired so my questions are: has anyone else had this issue, what did you do to fix it/ get a replacement? What is the microsoft complete thing? Is it cheaper to pay for that warranty and then have them replace my remote through that? I've tried power cycling, i've updated the remote, i've checked and replaced the batteries numerous times, it is not corroded, It used to be bluetooth so I promise it is not a wired controller,also it is for the xbox one. Any advice would be great, Thanks.

You shared that you already did the some basic troubleshooting such as reset, replacing the batteries and updating the firmware. Based on the information that your shared, It is safe to conclude that your controller has hardware issues and I'm sorry about your situation.

trun off your xbox unpug everything then plug it back in and it will work

My Wi-Fi is the working have several other devices connected but my Xbox live won't connect unless I plug in Ethernet yellow cord why is that

from the dashbroad go right to the setting / system / console settings /connected devices make sure that play to is trun off that should stop your xbox from doing that

unless the device specifically says it supports Xbox it won't work
