    Xbox Remote Play Connecting


    For the past few months I have been using remote play while I am away from home. However, recently my Xbox has needed to be restarted constantly to be able to play but since I am not home, I am unable to restart it myself. Is there a way through something like the Xbox app that I can use to restart it remotely?

    How to fix remote play on iPhone

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using the Remote Play feature of your Xbox.

    In order to enable remote play, you need to enable remote features from the settings of your console.

    Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.

    Select the Enable remote features checkbox.

    In Xbox App Preferences, you need to select "Allow connections from any device" if you want to remove any authentication.

    If these settings are already configured properly, here are the steps on how you could proceed with the remote play.

    On a mobile device:

    Open the Xbox mobile app.

    Select the My Library icon and select Consoles.

    Select the console you want to connect to and then press Remote play on this device.

    If you're still having issues, try connecting to a Wi-Fi network with strong signal. Mobile data is not stable compared to Wi-Fi. For optimal Xbox Remote Play, you'll need a stable internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 4.75 Mbps (9 Mbps preferred), and a 5GHz Wi-Fi network (or Ethernet connection)

    Based on the description, you are having issue with remote play when iOS device is connected via 5G and Xbox Console is connected via home network. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

    We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

    1. What error are you getting when devices used for remote play is not connected on the same network? The internet connection should be:

    • 7-10 Mbps
    • Connected to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network (a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network will work but isn’t currently optimized)
    • Cellular network connectivity is also available.
    2. Have you tried another device to remote play your console like a Windows PC and even connected on different network remote play does not work?

    To successfully remote play your Xbox console using iOS or Windows device or even Android, make sure to set up correctly the remote play settings requirements and make sure devices used for remote playing meet the requirement. For your reference, see: How to set up remote play | Xbox Support

    I understand that you are experiencing issues with remote play.

    I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

    Please restart both your Xbox console and the device you're using for Remote Play (PC, mobile, etc.). Make sure that your console is set to Instant-On mode so it’s ready for remote sessions.

    And then check network connection because remote play requires a strong and stable network connection. Test your network speed on both your console and Remote Play device. Ensure that the NAT Type on your console is Open. Go to Settings > Network Settings > NAT Type. Kindly restart your router if your connection is unstable.

    Next is to reconnect to the Xbox App. Sign out and back into your Xbox account on the app you’re using for Remote Play. And it is important to make sure that you are using the same Microsoft account that’s signed in on your Xbox console.

    The enable remote features, do this on your console, go to Settings > Devices & Connections > Remote Features. Please make sure that "Enable Remote Features" is checked. Set Power Mode to Instant-On to ensure the console remains accessible remotely.

    If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly connect your Remote Play device to a different network (like a mobile hotspot). If this works, the issue is related to your original network setup.
