    Xbox Remote Feature Setting

Please can anyone explain the remote access settings on the Xbox?

Under settings > Device & Connection there is 'enable remote play' which appears to allow installation, play, control of xbox via the phone app...

However in the next screen, Settings > Device & Connection > xbox app preferences you can then choose to allow any device / signed in only / disallow all xbox app connections, and this seems to be an independant toggle, so I am wondering how this is any
different from the 'remote play' toggle on the first screen?

Finally if I check the first option 'Allow connections from any device' in the xbox app preferences what does this mean?

Could someone access my Xbox console, run apps, play games, change settings etc without needing to log in to my profile / without requiring my login credentials, and could they do this from outside of my local network, over the internet?

Thanks for any insight on this, I have searched for more information and it sounds like remote access has changed over the years, so its difficult to pin down how it actually works

    :)

    Help

If you suspect someone has access to your account, you should immediately change your passwords and check your security settings in your Microsoft account and any other account you feel may be affected.

Secondly, you can disable remote play features on your Xbox by going to Settings>Devices & connections>Remote features. From there, you can toggle remote features or disable streaming features under the "Xbox app preferences" under the same tab.

Dragon Age Inqusition DLC Not Appearing In-Game

Hi, Daisy! Have you checked if you're still prompted to install them using Xbox app? You can try to install them remotely. Just make sure that remote features are already enabled. Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features. Check the box to enable remote features and for Power options, select Sleep mode.

    Installation Stopped Issue

I am sorry this did not work for you.

Please try to associate the "Xbox" app for mobile devices to your console and remotely install the game from there.

To enable the remote features follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide and go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.

Check the box to enable remote features.

For Power options, select Sleep mode.

    Remote Play doesn't work

Hello, I hope you are well.

    Please try the steps below.

home due to firewall settings or network issues. Check your router's firewall settings and make sure your Xbox is in a mode that allows Remote Play, such as Sleep mode.

    Troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check your firewall settings:

If your router has a firewall, make sure it is set to allow your mobile device to connect to your Xbox.

Make sure port 3074 is open in your firewall, as it is used for Remote Play.

    2. Check your Xbox power mode:

Your Xbox should be in a power mode that allows Remote Play, such as Sleep mode.

If your Xbox is in Power Saving Mode (complete shutdown mode), you will need to turn it on remotely through the Xbox app to start Remote Play.

    3. Check your Xbox Remote Play settings:

On your Xbox, go to "Profile & system" > "Settings" > "Devices & connections" > "Remote features".

Make sure "Enable remote features" is turned on.

Make sure your console is set up correctly for Remote Play.
