Xbox refuses to let me add a knew account

Can you provide some details on what it says when you try to add a profile? What part of the step is it stopping you? Is this a new Xbox? Has there been an account on there before? Has another account attempted to sign in on the Xbox with the
same or different results? Has the account been able to sign into other consoles?

It does not say anything or give an error code when I press the "add new" button in account settings. It stops me after pressing said "add new" button it first gives me two loading circles then without saying anything just brings me back to where I was before
I pressed the button. This is not a new xbox we have had it for 6 years now but ever since about a year ago it started having problems which started with the controllers disconnecting then the wifi shutting off and never being able to turn on and in the process
shutting off my live account. We recently moved and I gave another shot today at starting it and it connected to the internet and updated but then this happened. Yes multiple accounts have been on there since we got it. Like I said it won't even let me get
past loading the part where it brings me to sign in. I have not tried signing in with the same account on another xbox but it isn't an account problem as it won't even let me put any information into the xbox before bringing me back to where I was.

Did you run a network test in the console setting menu to see if your console is connected? You might try resetting the MAC address too on the console. If you can't connect to the internet with the console, it can't dowload your profile, or add a new one.

Thanks. First thing I'd do is fully power down the Xbox by pressing the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds. Then disconnect the power cable for 10 seconds. While it's unplugged, power cycle your modem and/or router. Wait for the router to get
back up and running and connected to the internet before plugging in and powering up the console.

My first guess is that it is an internet issue that is preventing the login and next steps. Above should give us a fresh baseline to test off of. Let us know if that lets you sign in, and if not what the Network Statistics page says for NAT and Server
Connectivity.

If that doesn't work, the next thing I would try is performing an
Offline System Update following the steps here.
