    Xbox recognises headset as mic ONLY


    Hi,

    I am the owner of a Razor Kraken 7.1 Headset. Recently, for no apparent reason, the Xbox one is only recognising the microphone on the headset. I can hear people fine but can't hear any game volume. There is no option to adjust party/game volume only an
    option to turn up microphone monitoring and overall headset volume. Please note, I can hear people out of
    both ear muffs with no problem. Just some extra things to note:

    • Controller fully updated
    • Xbox power cycled 5 times
    • Other headphones work in all the controllers I use
    • The headset works fine on everything else. (PC, iPhone 6, Nintendo Switch, PS4 etc.)
    • The headset is experiencing the same problem across numerous controllers
    • The headset is plugged directly into the controllers 3.5mm headphone jack
    • Console fully updated

    Headset working but xbox doesn’t recognise mic

    my headset is connected to my controller and I can hear myself talking and the game audio. However, in party chat it says that it is unable to find my mic. How do I sort this out?

    Headset working but xbox doesn’t recognise mic

    We are having a similiar issue. On our 4th headset (thinking that was the problem, although current and #3 had sound when plugged into another device) and the controller is not recognizing the headset. Controller is up to date with new batteries.

    Hi Brad,

    I’ve tried the standard Xbox headset which plugs in via the adapter port (bypassing the 3.5mm) and whilst the dashboard shows it recognising the headset being plugged in via the top right icon showing a little image of a headset, the mic still doesnt work.
    Its as though the mic is completely disabled on the console...

    Thank you for coming to the forums, I'd be happy to help.

    Making a new profile from the controller in the Accessories app won't help much because that is primarily for button mapping, but in the same app select the three dots and then go to volume. Is it greyed out?

    Does your headset plug in via the 3.5mm audio jack? If so, the issue may be the port itself if the controller not picking up the headset anymore. We'll need to test the headset and mic on a different device to make sure the headset is working fine. Try it
    on a laptop or mobile device and confirm that the headset and mic work.

    Try it on another controller if you have one or borrow one if you can for testing purposes.

    Let us know this information so we can narrow down the issue.
