Xbox reads DVDs but not any games

    Xbox reads DVDs but not any games


    I haven't used my Xbox in about 2 weeks to a month for anything but watching movies, but I bought a new game the other day and finally tried to install it, but when I put it in, the disc wouldn't read and error code 0x80820002 would appear, so I tried
    my other games to see if it was just the disc but then none of my games would read anymore. Please help.

    UPDATE: I rolled back the Xbox system update using (LB RB X 2x) in storage and it will play my disk now occasionally it will say unreadable disk but will now play disk. Now I can't play Xbox live due to me not re updating my system. Wtf Microsoft?

    Sorry to hear about the error code issue and any inconveniences this may have caused. We believe that the issue has been resolved. If you are continuing to experience error code 0x80820002, please give the following troubleshooting steps a try:

    Make sure your Xbox One console is placed horizontally on a flat, stable surface.

    Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.

    Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.

    Wait 3 minutes and then plug in your console.

    Power on your console and try playing a disc.

    If you have tried the suggested steps and if the issue continues, we recommend having your console repaired or exchanged. If you would like to speak with someone about having your console exchanged, contact the retailer where you purchased your Xbox One
    console. If you would like have your console repaired, you can set up a console repair from our Online Service center or from our Contact Us page.

    We can definitely understand how frustrating this could be. Once again, we are sincerely sorry to hear about any inconveniences this may have caused.

    The xbox 360 i have will read and play any DVD but it will not play any games. I've downloaded the updates and installed them successfully. No games working at all, won't read the game disc and always switches back to play DVD.

    Can you help?

    Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Discs no longer reading on Xbox One

    Try a movie DVD and see if that works to rule out the drive
    Movie DVDs are reading without any issue, the Xbox One seems to only have issues reading the Xbox 360 game disc licenses.

    Hi,

    It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

    The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

    Just to update, I tried with a basic movie DVD (Big Fish) and it worked fine no issues.

    Since Xbox 360 games are on a DVD, I thought they'd read the same. Any difference (excluding the extra lair DVD's newer games come on)?
