Xbox purchase approval charged my account

Sorry to hear you have run into these billing problems. If you have already completed the purchases and they have come up on your account it was simply because the wrong account was logged in.

Whenever you purchase Live from Xbox it warns you that auto-renewal will be turned on. Since you approved the purchase you also approved the auto-renewal, so you won't be able to get a refund.

If you leave your card on, even without money, they will still attempt to charge you. They will then suspend your account until you pay off the balance from what they have tried to charge you.

For some reason, after I try to purchase game pass with my account balance, it says to approve the payment from my banking app, saying I will be charged 17.99 on my banking app when I already have sufficient funds on my account.

What is the issue here, and will I actually be charged on my card?

This does not seem like a valid answer. The original question was how can you have the card show up in the family settings AND enable the "Require approval for every purchase" option. This is basic functionality and works on other platforms (Android, iOS).

I realize that the original question was for a prepaid gift card, but if I want to add my credit card to my child's account, I should be allowed to enable the "Require approval for every purchase" and not have to load their account with a set dollar amount. I should be able to approve the exact purchase amount and have that charged to the credit card.

If you then purchase something accidentally, or something is charged to your account that you do not approve of, you then have TWO courses of action: Xbox Support AND your CC Company. If Xbox Support refuses your claim and will not reverse the charges,
take the matter up with your CC company. 99% of the time a CC company will refund your purchase and go after the company that mistakenly was credited.
