My child is using my (adult) microsoft profile to play the xbox. Therefore I am unable to restrict screen time. Is there a way to have him start using his own (child) profile? Can this be done so that he can keep all the crap he has earned (fortnite
    skins, etc)? Thx.

    :)

Amazon Instant Video: Multiple Xbox Live accounts, multiple Amazon accounts

In one of the latest updates, Amazon fixed the "Switch User" feature. Now, when you switch Xbox Live profiles, it will switch to the Amazon account linked to that profile as expected.

    Store bought games not playing

BTW, remember to disconnect Kinect, so, there is in no way his profile would switch to your profile when you are holding the controller.

You can create a new profile for him, but nothing can be transferred to the new account so he would have to start over.

To expand on what Smwutches said you can create a new account for your child, but any progress made on your account can not be transferred to
your child's new account. (I am assuming the Fortnite skins, etc are earned through in game means and there for can not be transferred [I don't play Fortnite])

  6. Hey there Steve!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue.

Well, in the case of him keeping all the progress that he already has earned in your profile, what was previously posted is 100% true.

We do have this thing you can set up to hopefully prevent him from logging in and using your profile instead of his. It's called a "passkey" and it's basically a PIN that you can set to be asked for whenever either purchases or setting changes are attempted.
I would suggest that when and if you get the chance, check out the pages of helpful info we have on our support site about that setting here at

Switching xbox profiles doesn't switch game profiles?

    Hello Smooest,

Thank you for reaching out to us about your issue!

Can you provide more context about your issues so we can have a better understanding of it?

Is the game that you're playing an Xbox 360 game downloaded onto the Xbox Series S or is it newer?

What game(s) are you experiencing this issue with?

Are you referring to an in-game profile that's still signed into the game after switching accounts? (Ex: Dad account is signing into the game and loads in-game profile. Dad switches from his account to son's account and Dad's in-game profile is still signed in)

    Switching xbox profiles?

    Hi Kristen.

    My name is Renato.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

I believe that a solution could be to create a family account. This way, you can share games, and you can keep track of all your child's activities, which is important from many perspectives.

    To add your son's account

Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the Guide.
Select Profile & system, then sign in to your account.

Press the Xbox button again to open the Guide, then select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Family settings > Manage family members > Add to family.

Select the profile of the person to add and press the A button on the controller.
