Xbox privacy settings for child account

I and trying to change my son’s privacy setting online for Xbox one. Multiple options are automatically set to block. When I set them to “allow” and submit my changes, the options are set right back to block. It doesn’t spit an error out it just won’t
save.

So I contacted your support team, they told me to try to adjust hus priavacy settings for his account on the Xbox one console itself. I set everything to allow, and it saved. But the problem now is it’s still restricted.

Changing my sons privacy and safety settings online doesn’t save, and changing his private settings on the console doesn’t take effect. I even went as far as changing his oraivacy settings on every Xbox he would ever possible play on, it didn’t work, his
account is still restricted.

I am trying to play fortnite with him while I’m on pc and he’s on Xbox but his restrictions won’t allow IG. How can I fix this?

Is your son by chance under the age of 13?

If so, then the privacy settings on the Xbox website are no use, as Epic themselves block accounts from kids under the age of 13. You would have to contact the Epic support, if your kid is able to play other games online, but not Fortnite.

As for trying different Xbox consoles:

The online and privacy settings are account dependent, not console dependent. So it doesn't matter what console or PC you use to change the settings.

However, when you make the changes on his child account on
https://account.xbox.com/settings do not change the category (Privacy, Xbox One, Xbox 360) unless you have saved the changes you made on one page.

So for example, on the Privacy tab, make the necessary changes, and save the settings.

Then go to the Xbox One/Windows 10 tab, make the changes, and save the tab again.

Your kid would need to sign out and back in on the console to have the changes take effect.

 

The best way I found to manage my sons account was to create my own account, and then add my son as a child to the FAMILY.

That meant that all the privacy and security settings are done through MY account using the FAMILY options.
