Xbox powers on and stays on with automatic updates while in standby mode

Since a couple updates my Xbox powers on when a new update comes out. After updating it stays on. Before it just "powered" on while in standby mode and after it was done it went back into standby mode.

This is undesirable because I had my Xbox configured in a way that my TV comes on when turning my Xbox on, and shuts off my TV when turning the Xbox off.

Since these updates usually come out during the night/ early in the morning (over here) I have been woken up several times now by my Xbox turning on my TV. It has also updated a couple of times while I was at work. And because it doesn't power off after the
update, my TV and Xbox have been on during a great part of the day. So this means unnecessary power consumption and an the possibility to burn in my screen.

I had to configure my Xbox not to turn on/off my TV because of this, so that function has become useless now.

I wonder if anybody has the same problem or knows how to fix this.

It happens from time to time. Just turn it off and it ( most of the time ) doesn't happen again for a long time.

One option available to you is to set the Xbox to update games and apps while it is in standby. To do this, go to Settings/Power & Startup/Power Mode & Startup, and set the console to "instant-on." When you select this option, the console will be in a
standby mode when you shut it down after use.

Then go to Settings/System/Updates, then check the box to "keep my games & apps up to date." When this option is selected, the Xbox will automatically check for any game or app updates about once a day while in "instant-on" standby mode.

If you like, you can also check the option to "keep the console up to date" and the Xbox will also search for and apply system software updates when needed.

@BC32 If I'm not mistaking, updates aren't installed automatically, they're downloaded automatically but not installed, however I think if you have the power settings set to keep ur console in standby mode that the consoles system updates will download and
install automatically, but not updates for apps.
