    Xbox power on/off causes internet "surge"


    There are 3 Xboxes in our house. Me and my two brothers. Every time one of us turns on or off one of our consoles it seems like it causes a brief, for lack of a better word, surge to our house's internet. It will disconnect any other person that is playing from their current online game but does not affect any streaming services. It also disconnects me from any online game I am playing on my PC. Anybody have any idea what is happening and how to fix it? Its been years and I'm tired of it.

    Xbox 360 turns off automatically

    Do you use a surge protector or power extension lead at all ? If so try connecting the Xbox power supply directly to the mains power outlet, It could be that the surge protector or extension lead is dropping power which would cause the Xbox to power off.

    Is your Xbox plugged into a surge protector or a power strip? If so, then that may cause problems with the power in the system. It is recommended to plug the Xbox directly into the wall outlet, as it has its own built-in surge protection.

    Is your Xbox connected to a surge protector or a power strip? If so, that is usually the most common reason for the console randomly turning on. Connect the Xbox power directly to the wall outlet.

    The Xbox One has its own surge protection built into the power supply, and connecting it behind another power strip or surge protector can cause electrical "hiccups" that cause it to start on its own.

    The surge protector could be causing the issue. This is because the power bar for the console has a built in surge protector.

    However, in Instant On mode you should be using your voice to turn off the console. Using the controller to turn it off will turn it off completely.
