  1. Xbox Power Issue

So, I recently had the pleasure of my Xbox One S deciding it doesn't wish to stay on, which many people seem to have on these forums. I've power cycled it, hard reset it, plugged it into an outlet directly, and tried everything short of taking it apart to
try and see whether or not I've burned out a chip or toasted my motherboard. The issue I'm having is the console will chime, power on for about 3-5 seconds, and then power off on it's own, and it has been doing so for three weeks. It turned on for about three
minutes recently, but then powered itself off. If at all possible, I'd like to know if there's anything I can do myself as opposed to paying for servicing something I am capable of doing on my own. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.: Yes, I know doing it myself woild void my warranty, but it is already expired, so I don't mind it.

    :)

  2. Xbox power issue

Hey there, sounds like you might be using a surge protector, the console was designed to be plugged directly into the wall as it has a surge protector built into the power supply. We have some info on the

    Xbox One power supply
that can help with this issue, we would recommend plugging the console directly into the wall, then let us know if the behavior continues. However, if you do not wish to do this, unplugging the console when you are done using it won't
hurt the console any, just make sure you shut it down completely and are not using instant on power mode with the console as this will not allow the console to fully turn off.

  3. Xbox power issue

So my Xbox one tends to activate on its own out of thin air. I used to be annoyed, as it would drain unnecessary power at times, but I got used to it and began just unplugging the whole thing when not using it. Over time I began wondering if always unplugging
it would somehow damage the hardware; I frankly don’t believe the Xbox one was meant to be constantly plugged in and out. I’m just curious as to if this habit will affect my console at all in any way (note that I have a 2 tb external hard drive plugged into
it as well). My friends always tell me to get a new power brick, but I’m just concerned with constantly plugging it in and out at the moment.

Make sure the xbox is plugged directly in the wall outlet. Switch outlets if possible as well and see if turns on from there.

If its still not turning on, might wanna consider sending it in for
    repairs

Have you tried another socket to see if the socket is bad.
