    Xbox POS

purchased a Xbox one almost 2 years ago. Have to say I’m totally discussed with my purchase. This thing is [Mod Removed]! It’s for my 10 year old son and it’s always locking up. Eats data like it’s going out of style. Totally aggravating as hell to navigate.
Bought him a new game on Wednesday for his birthday and today is now Sunday and the [Mod Removed]is only up to 55% installing.)and yes it has plenty of hard drive free )Then telling me another 21g update to even play it. This is just plain stupid. Ain’t even
trying to do any live stuff. Just wanna play the $50 rip off game I purchased.

I have been completely dissatisfied with this console since day one.

I can’t say it enough. It SUCKS !

Back in the day you go to store and buy Same $50 game and go home and pop it in and play the bitch. [Mod Removed]today.

I live in a rual area that does not have internet access at my house so having to use my phones internet and that is that this damn console needs that much internet to play a game that we purchased and own the cd.

I’m sure I’m stepping on plenty of toes here with you big time gamers but I just want to let my 10 year old play his video games with out all the [Mod Removed] involved.

What a birthday present, 4 days later and still can’t play it. Try explaining that one.

Wish I had never even bought the pos.

    :)

Care to share the whole story?

[/quote]I think the OP runs an orphan house. Apparently someone that goes by a name I can't say as it will eventually be redacted anyway, came into this orphanage and stole a 7 year old. Now, the OP wants him to die. No news yet if the 7 year old will
be returned to the orphanage after these events transpire.

The current Blu-ray technology makes it unfeasible to stream a game directly off the disc, as the disc cannot be read fast enough - all games must be installed to the hard drive in order to run. Games today are far more graphically complex nowadays, and
thus require dozens of gigabytes of storage space (on average).

The Xbox One and Xbox Live make extensive use of the internet in order to keep software updated and multiplayer running. However, you have the option of keeping the console offline, that way your son can simply install the base game
and play it without worrying about downloading updates. Read here for more details: Using Xbox One Offline

  5. Technically blu-ray has a faster transfer rate than DVD. It's not the speed that makes blu-ray ill suited to play from but how it is used.

DVD runs at a variable rate. It speeds up and slows down as needed. So the drive can speed up and return to a previous section of the disc to pull off data.

Blu-ray runs at a constant speed. whatever the speed drive is rated at, will be the speed it always runs at. This means of course that it can't easily skip back to a previous section of the disc, requiring large sections of the data to be duplicated. It essentially
kills much of the advantage of the larger disc sizes and increases loading times.

Early PS3 games ran only off the disc if you wanted, so it really is feasible to run games off of a blu-ray drive alone, especially since the increase in RAM this generation pretty much negates any loading issues.

Sounds like you are downloading the updates at the same time as installing the game.

It should never take that long to install a game.

The longest it's taken me is about 45 minutes & that was around a 50-60gb install.

If you have poor broadband/internet speeds then this will affect the install time.

It's best to install the disc first while not connected to live & then download the updates after.

What I find hard to believe is that you have had the console for nearly 2 years & haven't discovered this already.

If this is the first time it's happened then it could be an issue with your console.

Gaming is different now, games need to be installed,it's been this way for a long time.

Thanks for the reply guys but I need it in English. My problem still exist. The piece of **** console won’t load the brand new out of the box game. So what gives? I swear if I’d have know it was gonna suck this bad I would have never bought Xbox.

The idiot at bestbuy convinced me this one over PStation.

This was a large envestment with controllers and console and the 50-90$ games that are just to complicated. Now I fell ripped off.

I may just put all this **** on CL and maybe some other poor sap get it.

    It's the same on PS4.

You have to install games on that console as well.

  11. Only with PS4, unlike the X1. Right out of the box, no net connection required, neither for the initial console setip nor game install.

With the xbox one, you have to go online just to be able to play offline, and god forbid if online when playing local you lose net connection. Had it happen while playing the handsome collection. The game reverted to home and I lost items found while grinding
    for hours on end.

Not good, not good at all.

If you don't have a decent internet connection then current gen gaming is not for you. You would be better off selling the console and buying a PS3 or Xbox 360 instead. Granted the PS4 does seem to handle these types of things much better, but you're still
going to have to download huge updates on either console.

In all defence of MS - how large updates are is up to game developers and exactly how they do it.

And some publishers like Ubisoft seems to be biggest sinners in making patching cumulate all the time - so no matter what you installed in patches before you have to download those again. Something is seriously wrong if download games are not up to date
    as downloaded.

Personally I uninstalled 3 new games, doing from optical disc but still required 50-100% of game install as patches.

If I save up on download data to 100 GB which are allowed, not using every GB of the 40 each month - then I might waste the bandwidth on some of these games again, since games are awesome.

So total of it all with this gen consoles - not worth the obstacles in there.

The 360 was just about right compromize with everything. And I bought a used 360 golf game the other day, still worth doing.

The gameplay ideas lack progress at the same rate as game sizes.

Bought my X1 exactly a year ago - and plan to extend my time gaming - but a rocky road I must say.

But today reading about the new home screen ability to customize and the looks is right up my alley. More similar to 360 with bar on top in guide - awesome. This gives hope for future.
